Them are farm raised Deer that IWDHM are reporting.... Wasn't going to specify where reports had been forwarded to me from but if true makes complete sense why we haven't heard anything from the sources I listed. Thanks Greg. Probably the DNRs fault..to help decimate the herd

People that backed prop1 said that was the best way to reduce the herd was to move and shorten... Nothing said about reducing tags also. But there looks to be known Hypocrites in that group also..... "Dew as I say,not as I Dew" I don't follow the logic that you'd reduce the herd more by moving and shortening...firearms season harvests a flat out insane number of deer in simply the opening weekend even. Reduce harvest #s maybe?

I agree that northern Indiana doesnt, nor should it, ever produce the numbers of deer that southern Indiana does. However, the farming boom, in agricultural northern Indiana, has produced an all out onslaught of habitat destruction, clear cutting, fence rows and vast drainage ditches being stripped of trees and grass/riparian buffers etc. Responsible and environmentally sound farming practices are not just devastating to water quality and soil consevation, or simply the deer herd, but all wildlife is at risk. Any land that a tractor can get to, will be planted. Acreage costs are incredibly inflated and average, and even well off families can't afford to purchase meaningful acreage. There's a difference between number of deer tagged...and number/activity witnessed. Excellent post! Just look at quail and pheasant. Haven't herd a quail in my area for a few years now. Not the case 10 years ago.

Debating on switching back to a non smart phone. I feel it takes focus away from more important things right now and I'm tired of paying for it.

It can be tough to get out this time of year. I've been looking for a doe and I'm finding it difficult to get out with Church Christmas activities and kids school activities. I took yesterday afternoon and saw nothing. Don't really have a food source on any of my places after fields have been plowed so I'm probably not missing much. Not sure if you still hunt on the bend behind the Church off of 26 but there was 4 does in that field this morning on my way to work... You talking west side or east side?
