Starting last winter I've been hooked on going to estate auctions. I usually find one to go to on my weekends off. I don't spend much. Usually around $30-$40. The most I've ever spent was $105 and that was because I bought 2 vintage Bear Recurve bows. I've got some great deals on stuff. I've been able to resell enough items to actually turn a decent profit on just about every auction I've went to and I've kept a lot of tools, cast iron skillets, and other stuff for myself. Here are some of my best profit makers: $15 Oak lumber sold for $275 $2 Torpedo heater sold for $30 $1 Craftsman ratchets sold for $45 $40 Bear recurve trade in value of $100 towards another bow $10 for contents of maintenance room sold $150 worth of items out of it so far. Today's best deals were a set of Craftsman sockets with a breaker bar and about 40 lbs of aluminum scrap for $1. I also got this home made 1x42 belt sander for $10. It works and will be useful for knife making.

Pretty neat for homemade. How do you advertise what you are selling?

I like to go but they can suck up huge periods of time. Usually the longer you stay and the longer the auction has been going on the better prices you can get.

I go to a big farm auction in Columbus every year and have got some pretty good deals. One year I bought a bagger for a riding mower for $2 brand new in the box. Sold it along with a pancake air compressor I bought and it paid for my entire trip and then some. Going to try and go to one in two weeks that looks interesting.

Used to go every friday night when I was in my early to mid 20s. Had need for lots of things, wife worked 2nd shift and had little $. Still have some of the items I purchased for a dollar.
Now with kids, more things to do than time to do them and better job I can't go to those things any more. Maybe in 10 yrs. I did like going

Holy cow! That's an amazing amount of guns and other collectibles. I find it funny they suggest taking an Uber there when you may come home with a gun.

That looks like it would be a fun auction to attend. I would like to see his ax and hatchet collection. And the Indian artifacts.
I had a yard sale last weekend and sold a bunch of stuff that I brought home from auctions that I didn't really want to keep. I made a decent profit and cleared some room out in the garage. Now I need to find another auction to go to.

I went to an auction Wednesday and hit the mother load. They didn't have the hunting items listed in the sale bill. I bought 3 shelves of stuff for $5.00. 1 tool box with archery tackle, 70 field points,2 bow sites,2 stabilizers,2 sets of allen wrenches, one release, bow hanger, a whisker biscuit, and half a dozen broad heads. 1 tool box with a box call, 2 slate calls, brand new buck knife 112, 4 predator calls, gobbler call, knife sharpener, 3 bottles of deep woods off, and 8 12 ga. turkey shells. Also a soft bow case, a hard gun case, 52 Easten aluminum arrows, a 70 # spring scales, a 308 Garcia Mitchell reel, 2, 1" scope rings, 2 fiber optic sights for a Knight muzzle loader, a set of quick detach sling mounts, gun cleaning kit,bow quiver,2 antique manual ranger finders, large backpack, 2 fanny packs, small day pack, set of leg gaiters, and an electronic predator decoy. No, that was not a misprint, I paid $5.00 for the whole lot. I also got what I went after, a 2010 Polaris Ranger EV electric UTV with 380 hrs. on it for $6000.00. Needless to say I was very happy I went.
