Yep, we get two buck tags and the length of our gun season is only 7 days if you don't count muzzleloader

As an out of state hunter with family ground in Indiana it's nice to have a place like this to come to so I can stay up to date on any new rules or issues in the state of Indiana. That's been a chore the last couple of years, hasn't it?? Yes it has!

They have said that getting the CDAC's was their primary goal and they will report what the people want. I think in their mind they believe they are with the majority and their views, wants, and wishes will prevail in the end. It would be pretty interesting if the majority of people that actually showed up to these meetings supported the late anterless season and depredation tags. How would the IWDHM respond then?

as others on here have already talked about I think 2017 is the year of the kitchen remodel because my wife also wants to remodel ours this spring.
I will also be starting to figure out any property improvements I want to make. #1 on this list is improved bedding areas. Then its time for Turkey Season!

I am from IL where we have to wear a HO vest and hat while hunting. I think all states should be that way during the firearm season.
As far as orange on a ground blind I think the HO dome caps should be required but not the 144 inches on all sides.

What is the terrain and habitat make up of the property and surrounding? Being from central IL the terrain might as well be mountains LOL. Its really hilly with lots of ridges and deep valleys.

Fresh off my 2016 "Rutcation" on our property in Ohio County I am left still scratching my head. This has been a very disappointing and confusing season on our property. It started in early September when all of our more mature bucks started to disappear from my cameras. It continued into the hunting season when after hunting a total of 17 days I still have not seen a mature buck or even a buck over 120 inches. The guy who owns property next to mine is having the same kind of experience on his place as well. He called me last night and said some of the other guys in our immediate area are not seeing any mature buck movement either in person or on Camera.
My first thought was maybe we had an isolated EHD breakout but none of us have found any dead deer over the past couple months. So I am not sure what is really going on here but it sure is disappointing to say the least. I guess I will just have to see how things shake out once the rut and gun season are over. Hopefully late December is better to me then October and December have been.

I have used a doe decoy a few times and never had any mature deer like it. They say if you are using a doe decoy by itself it has to be that perfect time of year with the rut. Most people have better success with a buck decoy or a combo of the buck and doe.

Yeah we have tons of dead Ash on out place too. As they start to fall it will be interesting to see how it starts to change our property.

My afternoons aren't to bad. My cameras are telling me the majority of the deer on my place are nocturnal right now.

Mornings have been painfully slow here at our place. Was hoping the action might pick up with this nice cool morning but so far nothing.

Well its special because the kids can use a firearm when an adult can't. Last I knew here in Illinois if a youth didn't fill their tag they could use it during the first gun season as well so in that example they would have to hunt with the general firearm public eventually.

[quote source="/post/478380/thread" timestamp="1474600557" So what weekend do you want the BowHunter's of the state to give up..... They are the one that have the date at where it is now! BTW..... The meat will not spoil if you do your home work in advance of the hunt..... Bow hunters don't have to give up a weekend in Illinois. We can still hunt if we wear orange. I would imagine if Indiana ever moved the youth season the same thing would happen since you can still bow hunt during the normal firearm season now.
