Actually I measured the drag harrow I pull behind my ATV and it is 6 ft. Not sure where you are from but I have a used equipment guy I buy from on occasion and I know he has 3 or 4 sections at his place now. Not sure the pricing but normally are pretty inexpensive and are heavy duty. I am in Southeastern Indiana and the dealer is just outside Versailles, IN. Has all kinds of older used equipment. If its the guy I am thinking of he is right on RT 50. He has lots of great stuff. Last couple times I have gone by his place on the way down to our property he had a cultipacker sitting outside and a few other things I wouldn't mind adding to my food plot arsenal

I would be ok with baiting. For me its the same as the HPR's. Just because its legal doesn't mean you have to take part in it. I don't really see myself hunting over a bait pile but I like the idea of not having to close up my mineral sites and in some cases dig up the soil.
Also I can see this as a benefit for any hunter who may not have much time to hunt but still needs/wants to put some meat in the freezer. I had a friend a couple years ago who because of work and family issues was only going to be able to hunt 3 or 4 days the entire season. In the past he and his family had counted on having 2-3 deer in the freezer to help feed his family. Well if he would have been able to bait he may have been able to get a couple deer instead of going without.
The baiting argument is just like the HPR discussion and the call of a reduction in tags. There are always going to be hunters on both sides and in most of their minds the other side is just dead wrong.

I am going to get down to our property this weekend. Hopefully I can get my turkey early on Friday so I have plenty of time to catch up on mowing and take care of some tree removal from some of our ATV paths. We are probably not going to plant anything this spring and just wait until early august to plant some fall/winter plots.

I don't know why so many people are trying to figure out what gun to buy and which one will be legal come hunting season. Just buy all 5 and call it good.

Yeah we are already seeing a few gobblers strutting and following a few hens around our place.

I usually just hunt with my bow. But that being said if I still need meat during the late gun season I may pick up one of my rifles and go take a doe with it.

My bow will still be legal correct? I sure hope so! That's one of my favorite parts about hunting in Indiana. Here in Illinois its gun hunt or no hunt for that part of the season.

I would really like to have seen the purple paint law pass. Out of all the foolishness that is happening with this bill that part of it made the most sense!
While not a fan of just the 5 cartridges I hope they use them as a trial basis and eventually expand it out to others. I learned to hunt with a shotgun and when I do decide to put down the bow and gun hunt that's what I will use because that's what I like. It's not that I don't like rifles its just that I prefer my shotgun but I have no ill will towards anybody who wants to use one its all personal preference.

I drew a tag for a state park in S. IL and I will also be hunting in Indiana.

I would like to see a few things change.
1. I would like to be able to take my possible two turkeys in either season. So if I want to shoot both in the spring I would not be eligible for the fall turkey season or visa versa.
2. Baiting needs to be legal all year or made illegal all year.
3. For land owner tags I would like to see it extended to the owners children/children's spouses even if they don't live with them anymore.

I've never thought of deer hunting as a group sport. Hunt my own land by myself. I like being alone with nature unless sharing it with my kids. Its my escape. During bow season I agree with you. During gun season for me its more than just hunting. We still hunt alone out in the timber but when you get back to camp you have other people to share your hunt with. The time sitting around the fire with my family sharing stories of the days hunt or past hunts is some of the best memories I have.

During the IL gun season we travel down to our old family farm with two campers and make camp for the weekend. We have been doing it for the past 15 years ever since my grandparents sold the farm to a cousin of mine. Its something I look forward to every year regardless of the deer numbers in the area.

Because I live in Illinois I can't conveniently get out to hunt our place in Indiana. I always take the week off before the gun season to hunt.

As we start to accumulate more and more implements for our tractor and other equipment for our property it has become apparent that we need to build a new shed.
Do any of you have any recommendations on who I should use? We are in Ohio county

I can attest that the numbers are definitely up over the last two years where I hunt in IL. This year was probably my best year over there for seeing quality bucks while in the stand. The previous two years numbers were just terrible and good bucks were just not seen at all. It was the same for us as well where we hunt in Illinois.

It usually takes me about 1.5-2 hours to skin and debone a deer. Usually 2 hours because of beer breaks.
Weather permitting I will let the deer hang a couple days with the hide on. Then once I am ready to go I will skin the deer, trim fat if needed then cut out my back straps roasts and steaks. Everything else is deboned and stored in large ziplock bags in the freezer until the season is almost over. Once I am done hunting I take all the scraps to my butcher where I get burger, brats, and summer sausage made.
For the back straps, roasts, and steaks I will rinse and dry them after that I wrap them in plastic wrap and freezer paper.
