I would hang a few cameras. If you have an opportunity to come up before the season I would hang a few cameras in certain areas that you think the deer are using or in areas that you want to check. They are a valuable scouting tool especially if you are not around often.
I am 4 hours away from my property I hunt and my family that lives there does not hunt so I run several cameras and check them every couple months when I am able to get down to the property and it has helped me tremendously.

They have been going for a couple weeks now here in IL. Our local elevators got them going when they offered half price drying. Going to be a big bumper this year of corn and beans in our area.

I shot all my hunting arrow last night with my nocturnals and they all shot well and lit up. Some of the nocturnals are 3 yrs old so I was pleased to see they were all in working order. Just need to move a couple stands still but if I don't get to it I am not to worried I can use my climber if I need to make a move.

Well just got an update from a buddy who hunts our place. One plot looks pretty good but the other two are growing but just at a slower rate. I am really not surprised it was about 9-10 days before they got a rain after I planted so hopefully things will catch up.

We have tons of does around our property. If I really wanted to have a proper ratio we would need to shoot at least 20 to get it down to where it needs to be. I try to take at least 2 deer a year in Indiana and at least 1 in Illinois that is usually enough to fill the freezer and get us to next hunting season.

It all depends on where the deer expires. The goal is to get it to the ATV path where we can throw it in the back of the ATV trailer and haul it out. To do this we will either drag it by hand or use a product called "The Dead Sled" it really makes dragging a heavier deer a lot easier. I usually try to avoid taking the ATV off unless I need the wench.

I will be down Sunday and Monday to plant a few things. I am hoping the rain stays away long enough to work the soil. if I can get that done I will be good to go.

I hate weather forecasts! Yesterday I looked at the 7 day forecast and it looked like I had a break in all the rain so I took next Monday and Tuesday off to go plant my plots and now today depending on the weather site you use there is rain in it for Sunday and Monday! I hope they are wrong.

yeah the rain is kind of screwing me right now. Hopefully that first weekend in Sept will be dry so I can get down and finish planting my plots. I was going to go down this weekend but looks like rain in the forecast for Sat so not sure what I am going to do.

Oats?

With the equipment you have I would disc first then level out the soil with the cultipacker. After that just broadcast the seed and then cultipack again or drag with something.

I use the WTI Oats plus. We have had great success with them. The deer really seem to like them and are feeding during my prime hunting months of Oct and Nov.

What part of the state are you located?
I am in Ohio County and the closest ag field is about 3/4-1 mile away. I have tried a few different things in my 2 acre plot.
1. WTI Oats Plus- The deer just hammered my two acre plot all the time. 2. turnips and radishes- later in the winter the deer hit this pretty hard but not much action during Oct. and Nov. 3. WTI Pure Attraction- has the oats and the brassicas but what I really liked was the winter peas in the mix. The Deer seemed to do well with this blend as well.

One buck looks like it has a tine sticking out to the side. What does one call this? It doesn't drop; it sticks out sideways. Some people would call it a "kicker"

Well I had a good weekend down on the farm except for the random rain shower we got Friday kind of halted my operation for a bit. I was able to get my 2 acre field mowed in preparation for spraying and planting fall food plots. I also mowed and cleared all of the ATV paths as well. From what I saw this weekend while in the woods and also from checking the camera we left out over a feeder we have a very healthy population of does and fawns at our place they were everywhere!
Oh and to Mr. Jon Snows point I sure do have a lot of fat coons running around. Every time a deer was at the gravity feeder eating a raccoon was waiting underneath for anything that fell to the ground.

Heading down to the farm for the next few days. On the to do list 1. Now that the fawns are moving its time to mow the grasses to prep for fall food plots 2. Fill the feeders 3. check cameras and get the rest set up 4. Put up the new tripod stand
Should be a good weekend weather wise.
