Looks like a good list, but don't forget TP. When blood trailing I tear little pieces of TP and place them where I spot blood. In the event the blood trail peters out and I have to return later, this allows me to easily get started back up. One good rain and the stuff is gone, so I don't feel like litter is an issue. You and I pack TP for completely different reasons. LOL! I carry a backpack in with me but what's in it all depends on the time of year.

I know some of you already had your opener but for those of us who hadn't, the anticipation is hightening. Just confirmed my new broadheads (Trying the Muzzy Trocars) shoot like field points as advertised. Confirmed at 20 and 30 yards. I am trying the Trocar HB's for the first time and so far they are awesome. I just wish Muzzy had a practice head for them. I will be out Opening day but after that I really don't hunt until later in October unless there is a weather event that looks to good to pass up.

Well if you have $1500 laying around I would go buy a raven. They are really nice! Raven CrossbowsOr if durability and a lifetime warranty are more up your alley the I would say you need to check out Camx Crossbows CAMX Crossbows

Well I got the plot worked up and planted this morning. The soil was a little tacky but the tiller handled it. Hopefully that moisture in the soil will help the seeds germinate because as of now I see no rain in this week's forecast. We are supposed to get storms tonight buddy. Strong line of storms heading this way. That's good because I didn't have a chance to drag the field after I planted so a good rain would really help work the seeds in.

No when you first come down our deas end road there are two small fields. We are setting up a kill plot this year as a test and probably something bigger next year to see if we can pull deer from across that main Rd and from across the creek.

It's ok. I am hoping that it will be dry enough to work the soil and plant by Monday afternoon. If not I am just gonna go the throw and grow route this year. Last I seen they are predicting anywhere from 1" to 3" rain. track is shifting a little south so probably closer to 1". You will probably be alright as your plots are up on top mountain.....lol This one is actually down low in the entrance field. Just a little kill plot.

Well the weather forecast really hurt my food plot plans for this weekend. Might have to just broadcast and hope for the best without working the soil. I'd help out buddy but my FORD F350 pickup took a dump and is in shop till the weekend so no way to get my equipment over there or I would... It's ok. I am hoping that it will be dry enough to work the soil and plant by Monday afternoon. If not I am just gonna go the throw and grow route this year.

Just lost one to a year long battle to cancer. In his honor I start this thread. By just starting this thread and acknowledging their memory you have answered your question.

And that is what makes this site such a great one. Way to go boonechaser. Very generous of you. Checking out farm this afternoon to get a game plan. Antiwheeze will have a acre food plot to hunt over this fall. You better be careful people are gonna start thinking you're a nice guy! J/K Hopefully you got him taken care of. Had I checked this site before this past weekend I could have helped a bit. But I was able to get my clover mowed and cameras checked. I will probably plant my last plot which is about 1/4 the first week of September. I am going to plant Deadly Dozen from Real World Wildlife Products.

I am with boone on this one. We probably take 5-10 does a year at our place and still see tons of them after the season is over.

If there is a chance your cams might get stolen I would definitly go with a cheap model. I would say the A series cameras from Moultrie would be a good choice.
We have a couple Primos cameras and I think they take good day time pics but the night time pics aren't that good. The majority of our cameras we run are Moultrie.
