Anybody watch it? They were sure giving the state hell about the property tax fubar. First time I can remember ever seeing anything like it. The four legislators on the podium had their hands full with some of the questions being asked. Personally some of their answers were just to "politics as usual" for my tastes.
I know one thing, if I were an incumbent anywhere in the state, I'd have a bag packed and be looking over my shoulder, come November. I think people, in general, are really fed up with govt. on both the state and national level, and I think there will be some BIG changes on ALL fronts, after the election. Whether it does any good, remains to be seen.....

Kind of an update. Mitch is asking for Fed. disaster aid, for the area. I sure hope they handle it better than Katrina and others, or some of the ole river rats that got flooded out might decide to shoot a bureaucrat or two that screws around with the paperwork!
I'm still sweeping water in my basement, but thank God no damage or loss!

I actually live in Reynolds, about 6 mi. west of Monticello, on US 24. I'm still sweeping seeping water in my basement. No damage to anything, just a pain. The lady's house, across the street is in a low area, and she had 4 ft. water up on her house! We're 6 miles from the lake! Yesterday, they still wouldn't let you cross the bridges at Norway, or Oakdale dams.

I kow this is OT, but thought you boys would like to see the mess north of Lafayette from the rains/flooding. Pics are of the Oakdale dam area, and a popular watering hole south of Norway dam, in Monticello. The top three are oakdale area and downstream, the last is the Riverside, in Monticello, with 5-6 ft. of water in the bar! Now I gotta get back to sweeping water in my basement. Mad Dog

look into a NEF sidekick. The blued/wood one can be had for under $180. Breaks down like a single shot shotgun. Good bang for the buck[no pun intended].

I live up north of Lafayette. However, my son lives in Bloomington. Is there any decent squirrel hunting in the hoosier nat. forest? Not talking about now, but am thinking ahead to next fall. I have always done all my hunting, here in Indiana, on private property, never hunted public ground. Any insight from you locals in that area?

Any of you boys camp when you go squirrel hunting[late summer, fall, winter]? Been getting the itch to do that again, next year. Do you use a camper or tents? I used to have all that equip., years ago, but got away from it. Debating on buying the tent and equip. or possibly an old[cheap] popup camper and give it a try again, in early fall. May have a 65 acre woods lined out, not too far from me to do this. Nobody squirrel hunts much up in my country anymore. I can get tons of woods to hunt them, but after Oct. 1 ya get a lot of bit****g from the bow hunters for disturbing deer.

Been out with my 39a a few times, and only got 2. Everytime I go, they are running. I went out Mon. with my sons little H&R 20 ga., and got 2- running on the ground, thru the briars, like rabbits. Now I much prefer to hunt with my Marlin, but if thats how they're gonna act, the 20 ga. ain't done, yet.

I totally agree with danf. I'm not opposed to the OBR, matter a fact I tend to support it. That being said its a crock to have to buy up to 3 tags to kill one buck.

I agree, it is sad, but when I was in Tx. 2 yrs. ago, I brought a copy of a magazine called Texas Trophy Hunter home with me. You wouldn't believe the ads in there for breeders and AI. When you drive through the countryside, the places adv. deer corn, feeders, tower blinds, fencing, etc. was astounding. Like I said its a big business down there. I inquired about the cost of high fencing on some of those ranches, and was told the going rate was $10-12,000 a linear mile!

Boys, I think you are looking at this thing the wrong way. What I'm about to say, I'll preface by saying I've been to Texas a couple of times hog hunting. I would never pay the prices they want for deer down there. However, hunting deer in Texas is BIG business. Where that buck is worth a million, is as a breeder buck. Just like bulls, boars, and race horses. Somebody will buy that buck, and the semen from artificial insemenation will easily make up for paying $1 mil for that deer. I'm not going to argue about his head being worth a mil or not[to me he wouldn't be]. They stud that buck until he's out lived his usefulness, and STILL be able to sell that head, or "hunt", for big bucks[no pun intended].

Having deer hunted in Ind. for about 30 yrs., I have used all weapons, except handgun[can't shoot em worth a durn cause of eye dominace]. That being said I'm all for the rifle season. My question is for those of you more computer literate than I. Has anyone tried to look up ballistic/trajectory tables, combine them, then cut/copy/paste and send them to those people? They don't need a book, cause they will just get lost. The following would be some suggestions.
1. 12 ga. Hornady SST 2. 12 ga. winchester nosler part gold sabot 3. Remington core lokt ultra sabo
4. .45 cal. ML 3 pellet load with sabots such as nosler
5. .357, .41 mag, .45LC, and .44 mag., with appropriate hunting loads. I might also add the .45-70, .444 marlin, and .450 marlin. These are also straight walled, and lall in line withe the above mentioned shotgun/ML ballistic/trajectory loads.
Maybe if you post them here, also, it will defuse some of the animosity towards the use of these rounds.
Just my thoughts......

Yes I would. He's a nice buck, that has broken off/dropped 1 antler. I would pass, and shoot does for meat. He would be a nice trophy next year. JMHO.
