I live up north of Lafayette. However, my son lives in Bloomington. Is there any decent squirrel hunting in the hoosier nat. forest? Not talking about now, but am thinking ahead to next fall. I have always done all my hunting, here in Indiana, on private property, never hunted public ground. Any insight from you locals in that area?

There are plenty of squirrels to be killed in HNF and there is plenty of room to roam to find them.

The Deam Wilderness area, especially anywhere near the fire tower is great for Greys-killed a ton of `em there.

The fire tower is the only remaining fire tower in the HNF.
Go south out of Bloomington on SR 446, across Lake Monroe, then turn east on Tower Ridge Road. The tower is down that road a couple of miles, I assume there are still signs pointing the way; there used to be 10+ years ago.
Pretty easy to find on Google Earth. If you don't have that program, I'd suggest getting it! It's free.

There are two parking areas before you get to the tower. The are at the Grubb ridge trail head. One on each side of the road about 50 yards a part.
