It seems several of you on here use the tactacams but, do any of you use the solar panels? I'm curious if they're cost/time effective or not. Thank you. Also, if you don't mind sharing, what is the monthly cost for cell service per camera? Thanks again. I ran 24 tactacams during the season this year amongst a few different properties. I think they’re $10-$11 a month each. The majority of them have the tactacam solar packs and they’ve faired well and I would vote to be worth it. My biggest issue so far is the cord from a to b coming out just enough to keep the solar pack from being used. I wish they screwed in somehow. A zip tie has helped keep I in place a bit better. I would also add that I’d especially use them for heavy traffic areas such as a food plot or a waterhole or hard to get too don’t want to go there areas. Wish they were a bit cheaper to run and I’d run them all through the year. Now I’ve moved some around to still do some trespasser patrol.

Started opening up the canopy at my new place. Forester will be doing a select cut on the property as well but may be a slow process due to seasonal flooding. They don’t have any use for the cottonwoods. Not even paper pulp or pallet wood. I have to decide whether to cut them myself or basically break even for them to cut and essentially leave them in place.
After starting the project myself just to see how it was going to go I’m now favoring for them to do it. Some of these things are absolute monsters and honestly a little daunting to tackle as the 25” chainsaw wouldn’t barely make it half way through the tree.
The neighbor will take anything accessible from the ground with his backhoe with grapple bucket to split for firewood. Again all this will be over time. The forester and I are thinking over a 2-3 year period. Mostly as I don’t want to completely wreck the place over the late spring/summer timeframe.

I use the Blink wireless security system. Very happy with how far the wireless link works as it was a concern of mine to reach the pole barn. Everything is clear and easy to program. I was able to pick up a couple 5 packs on sale through Amazon.

Had some coming at me then the guy across the street fired up his tractor 400+ yards away and they spooked like he was right next to them. That’s late late season to a T right there. We’ll see if they wonder back.

Just got setup for the evening. Not much wind so hopefully got in clean. Snow is melting off so sounds like it’s raining. Maybe that’ll help.

Definitely prefer bibs. Just got a pair of code of silence bibs for Christmas. Very warm. But most importantly the zippers go all the way up to the hip! Was very dissatisfied my predator bibs did not have full length zippers. Only to the knee. My fault for not double checking.

Asked the girls what color lights they wanted on the tree. Pink and white. So….. ordered 3 sets of pink lights from Home Depot a month before getting the tree. Get a notification they ship but then no tracking information. Called Depot and they would look into it. 3 days later online it showed as cancelled. Ugh…. Did the tree without them then 3 days later 6 sets show up randomly at the house. 3 from fedex and three from ups on the same day. Never did charge me. Still just ugh….

What are the dollar amounts of those leases? he pays $1,500 mine is 1,250 also mine has been the same for nearly 10 years. He has a very good chance of his going up yearly as that’s another part of the leasing company game. Not saying it’s good or bad but it’s also the reality of it.

I think the largest difference is the how you are leasing thing which screws this whole thing up. Are you leasing person to person or utilizing a lease company. The lease companies are all fairly close with each other and IMO way more than typical person to person agreements. Simple research would get mattfinney his answer or whomever else is in this situation for what to expect from a leasing company. Person to person deals are so all over the board there would be no way for someone to reasonably understand what they may or may not pay. That’s why they call it negotiating. A friend of mine leases 30 acres from a leasing company and pays more than my person to person lease of right at 700 acres. Apples and oranges What are the dollar amounts of those leases? he pays $1,500 mine is 1,250

Just got setup for the evening. Wind making it feel a little chillier. Trying the crossbow just because it felt like a good idea. 10 acre patch of thick woods going to a cut corn field. Time will tell….

Yes, gives others an idea of what to expect when looking for a lease, and helps with a starting point for negotiations. Glad to help, let me know if you have any more questions. Ok… the prices I see posted aren’t what we are seeing in today’s world…. Way to low unless you leasing thousands of acres! Maybe a simple exemption added to the regulations to clarify those whom own land are also exempt from being required to purchase a license. Fit the verbiage to meet the current land ownership exemption? Indiana has made it pretty clear they will only allow the exemption for licensure to apply to "farmland" in Indiana Code and Administrative Code. As concerned as they are about getting fees increased recently, there is no way they will open the floodgates to free hunting to property owners of just any property. I completely agree on the existing verbiage. It could be modified I believe to also include non-resident Indiana farmland owners as well though regardless of residency. Then those who own here don’t get penalized and those whom don’t own from out of state pay a premium to enjoy our states resources.

I think the IN non-res tags are too expensive as it stands. We have family from Michigan that comes for Thanksgiving to hunt our place and a tag is now $240 for a buck only firearm or $550 for the bundle. They raised prices big time a year or two ago. Regarding hunting your own land, you can only claim residency in one location so if you own land in two states you're going to be a non resident in one or the other. No getting around that. Maybe a simple exemption added to the regulations to clarify those whom own land are also exempt from being required to purchase a license. Fit the verbiage to meet the current land ownership exemption?

Although I am a Hoosier, born and raised there, looking forward to moving back when employment presents itself. I live in California for the current time. I/we have land in Indiana I can't even hunt with homeowner exemption because California does not reciprocate. They more than doubled the price of the bundle last year to 550.00, really thought about not hunting this year, but chose the single buck tag at 240. I think they did enough last year in my opinion....SF Woody I definitely don’t agree with not being able to hunt your huntable land for that cost. However if you didn’t (own land) I also think you hit the nail on the head in thinking to not head this way because of the cost. I do believe using the cost within reason as a great tool to protect this state’s resources. Take for instance Willow Slough that’s up in my area. Sits right near the Illinois border. So it provides easy access to cheap hunting for the Illinois residents. Lasalle is the same way. Their resources and area to hunt are stretched thin making them much less desirable to hunt. So a lot of hunters in this area head East and put additional pressure on other public land.

I would definitely be in favor for raising the cost of non-resident license costs. $350-$400 for a weapon specific (archery, firearm, or muzzleloader) tag good for a buck with a $25-$35 add on for a doe tag. I believe Indiana to be one of the best states to hunt for big bucks. That shouldn’t come cheap. I do however believe those that own hunt-able land here should be able to hunt that land with a homeowner exemption. They’ve invested in the state and deserve the right to hunt that investment in my opinion.
