Although I haven't worn them much this season, my insulated bibs are looking ROUGH. They are Gander Mountain brand, Gortex. I really like them, but they need replaced. I'm a little fat guy with stubby little legs and have a hard time finding something that fits but isn't 6 inches too long. What do you recommend? Pants or bibs? I was at Cabela's a couple days ago and nothing really appealed to me.

I'm also a short fat guy with stubby legs. I've never found bibs that fit. I have my mom shorten the legs of mine.

Not sure what your budget is or what kind of material you are looking at but check out Code Of Silence clothing. The guy that produced cabelas berber fleece is the one that manufactures this line. I have the Zone 7 Versa jacket and pants and they are warmer then anything I need. They also have a Coljfall jacket and bibs that I am sure are top notch for any cold weather hunting in Indiana. Other than that I have a pair of Tidewe heated bibs that are nice too.

I'm due for a new cold weather set myself. I'm guessing that mine are 20 years old -- the earliest photo I can find with me wearing them is 2006, and I'm sure I was wearing them before that. I'm partial to bibs for colder weather, as they keep drafts from your lower back better. Way back when, I spent $600 on Cabela's Scent-Lok MT050 bibs, parka, and gloves. They've kept me decently warm, but I've always longed for something better. I own a Heater Body Suit, but it's only practical in a ladder stand and it's still cumbersome then.
I'm open to suggestions as well. I would love Predator Fall Grey, but my choices seem to be pretty limited with that camo choice. I'm not afraid to spend money to stay warm, so let's hear some good options.
I now only have one glove, my parka won't zip up if I unzip it completely, and my bibs are shredded from barbed wire fences and briars.

100% a bibs guy. Extra warmth around your core is a good thing.

Bibs sometimes but for all day I have to go pants. All that bibs and everything in them hanging on my back all day will make the next few days pretty rough.

The Tidewe bibs are waterproof. I got them off of amazon, they have a sale right now on tidewe.com but looks like they only hav e large in stock.

Look at Hotshot bibs as well, they are waterproof.

Cabelas / Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, Sportsmans Warehouse all have a variety of good insulated hunting bibs to fit most budgets. If they're a little long, just fold the bottom of pants legs up a little bit, problem solved.

You want warmth and rain/wind proof, look at the ice fishing bibs. Only issue I have is both of my shoulders are worn out, after a couple hours I get pretty sore. My wife got me a new set this year for Christmas, snow pattern camo, they are made by Piscifun.

I'm not sure which brand of coveralls I have but, they have entry of pockets and are pretty warm. I bought them up at Gordmans in Valparaiso some years back. They worst issue with them is that they are loud when they're cold. Everything time I move it sounds like I am opening a bag of chips. If not for that, I'd have no issues.

Bibs for sure, Goretex for sure but I have a set that says Drylok on them and they have performed VERY well. The only thing that I would make sure to get with bibs is that the zipper on the side goes all the way up to the hip. Getting my foot with boots on into ones that don't zip up all the way is almost impossible.

For cold weather my go to are Sitka Fanatic Bibs and Jacket. Very warm, very quiet, but they are not goretex. They are a bit pricey but you can catch them on sale on Camofire now and then. I hate pants since they always seem to be vulnerable to drafts, bibs all the way for me.

Definitely prefer bibs. Just got a pair of code of silence bibs for Christmas. Very warm. But most importantly the zippers go all the way up to the hip! Was very dissatisfied my predator bibs did not have full length zippers. Only to the knee. My fault for not double checking.

After going on a State Park Deer Reduction hunt an hour away and getting literally soaked to the skin (even the paper in my wallet was wet) I swore that I would never be without waterproof hunting clothes again. The set that I bought that afternoon is still in use and it's been a LONG time since I bought them.

If it looks like we are going to get precipitation, I generally wear my MT050 rain gear overtop of whatever I'm wearing to avoid that. I hate having to dry out gear after it getting wet, even if it keeps me dry.

The wife and kids got me the First Lite Solitude bib for xmas and this afternoon was the 1st sit in them. I have never been a fan of bibs due to the weight on my shoulders, prefer pants. Time will tell but I think these are a good set of bibs. I dressed very lightly and they kept me warm. Material is quiet, they say windproof and I have to agree, wind was mid teens and I never noticed it.
