Just food for thought but an article I read a few years back actually said that a study of videotaped whitetails that had "jumped" the string were analyzed and that mathematically an alert whitetail can drop or "load up" to get out of dodge at just over 700 fps. Point being that no modern scorching fast bow has a chance to beat a truly alert whitetail.

What's happening my fellow nw Indiana hunters. I grew up hunting jp for years. Seems like I've been fortunate the last couple years to have moved on to some private ground but I still get the itch to hit my old spot once in a while. I think that's the single hardest thing being a hunter in this area is to find a decent place private or not that you feel is your "own" and have confidence in. All in who ya know I guess

Did this the last two years. Just cut a 3-4" tree x 9-10' or so with plenty of nice licking branches. bury about 3' deep and cut all of the branches up to around 4'. Sweetn the pie by scraping the ground around it. It's truly amazing how well it works with really all deer but I've had several mature bucks respond to this. Even go out of their way to hit it. They rub, scrape, and just seem to want to be around it.

I believe if you can't get them in velvet you need to stay out of the woods till mid to late October but with that said if you can get them in velvet you can pattern them more easily over a food source

Funny this came up. Last year I had a big buck coming right into my shooting lane When all of the sudden a squirrel started barking his tail off. He stopped dead in his tracks and took off immediately. First time for everything I guess.
