I shot a wide 6 yesterday morning about 7:40am, smelled me where I came off the field to the stand and he turned around came in behind me at 15yds and I smoked him at about 12yds. I'm trying to get pictures to load but I'm having trouble. Congratulations! Looking forward to pics Here are the pictures. I offered to post them for Catfish That is a good 6. I would have put him on the ground with out a second thought

I just ordered a new cross bow. I have been using a 30+ year old recurve crossbow and been wanting to get a new one for a couple years. I am a tight wad and just could not make the commitment. I have never been very confident in the old one so i finally gave in and got the new one on order. Should be here Friday. I will not keep you in suspense any longer. Haha. It is the Ravin R9 Package. Shoots 390 fps.,6 in wide when cocked,10 in wide uncocked and 6 1/2 lbs Every report I have read said good things about it. Only flat was that rope cocker is some what LOUD but if I make the first shot count like I should I will not have to worry about the noise. Any one got one? Any comments on it?

Funny, I have read lots of thing but no one said gun or bow To me those are the MOSE essential. You can get buy with out the rest but not them . Nobody mentioned fingers and toes either. Must not be necessary I think it ment non attached apendages.

No trouble getting your license. Fill out a piece of paper and send in your money. So no inspections come along with this license? Just asking, don't know anything about it. No Nothing! Just have to keep records and allow DNR access to any hides/animals/records at any time requested. I have my license and do critters for family and friends as a hobby. That is how I know what I know. I knew nothing when I started. Watched some taxidermy tapes and did some of my own stuff and then did family on the premise of cost, will do the best I can. Here are a few I have dune

But that is ridiculous. Wonder if he even was a taxidermist, or just trying to get some quick cash. He went to the trouble of getting a license - who knows what his abilities really were. No trouble getting your license. Fill out a piece of paper and send in your money.

I do not lnow how meny. Probbly 2 dozen. On water fishing. Private land hunting. Water goose hunting. Publicly land deer hunting. Only one waa negative. I had an officer try to find some thing wrong one time after comming in from goose hunting I mean any thing. Checked boat trailer and plate, registration for boat, shells, life jackets, lights, hunting license and stamps with signature, plates on truck and registrations electrical hookup from truck to boat, plug in gun and only hold 3 shells. You name it he checked it and was kind of a jerk about it too.
It was a smallish lake and found out he hunted it so i guess he did not like me being there when he was at work. I was 100% leagle so i was not worried but some time mistakes happen. Just glad that was not one of the times.

.
Actually, it's only 2 stands that are open. I have a total of 9 stands and 2 ground blinds on roughly 500 acres.
Why so few stands. I had 13 on 58 acres

What do you guys who live in the city do with the remains after butchering your own deer? Is there somewhere in the central IN area that accepts them? It depends on which house I am at. If at the lake I bury them in the leaf com post pile with the tractor bucket. When in garrett i cut every thing in small pieces and freeze it. Then place it in garbage can the day of trash pickup. I may make 2 or three bags for 3 different pick ups. To me it is the same as placing left over meat or fresh meat that spoiled in the garbage.

This small bowel is the stem. Most people throw it away because it is tough. If you dehydrate it and then put it thru a blender/foodprocesser to make a powder it can be used by the spoon full to flavor soups, stews or anything else you want a mushroom flavor in. It will last a long time I also dry the peddles or freeze them. The dried peddles can be used the same as the stem ( ie powdered) or rehydrated and fryed or used whole. The frozen ones I usually thaw and fry like spring motels The other bowel is what i got from the mushroom

It would depend on a lot of things. As for the picture it looks to be after leagle shooting time. If i was hunting HIS properity and had been ask not to I would not. If i was to understand any buck was leagle I would shoot. If it was my property no questions ask. I have hunted properitys where I could not take a Buck, doe only (ok with me as I was filling my freezer) I have hunted a property that bucks had to be out side there ears to be exceptable. I passed a 6 point at 18 yards archery from the ground. Having never killed a deer from the ground it was hard to pass but i gave my word. I also lost a place to hint because they were afraid i would kill the big buck they had seen. Ticked me off as it was the week befor gun season and I did not have a back up. All they would have had to do was Tell Me not to shoot it and I would NOT have. I feel tjat it is there property and I am a guest and MUST abide by their stipulations even if i do not like them. I have a choice. Follow the instrictions or do not hunt. Would i have liked to kill that big buck (i had seen it in archery) OH MY yess!!! But i like to hunt. And that is more important than killing a big buck, getting kicked out, loseing a good friend and my respect from them. Pluss bunch of other stuff that comes along with not honnering their request and breaking my word. I guess I am saying that hunting is more than just ethics to me. It is a way of life. Honner, respect, trust just to name a few. I better shut up now. Haha
