When I was much younger back in 84, I killed a deer not thinking about the mile plus drag out. Well, it took me over two hours and I learned to think about what happens after the kill. I was in the best shape of my life and it was still a miserable experience. These days I hunt on our farm and use a John Deere tractor loader for most removals. Old guys are known to die from short drags, so long drags should be avoided.

I have some great success dealing with Eagle Optics. We purchased three great binocs for a school grant last year @ 99.00 each with free shipping that compared well with the higher end binocs that several adults brought in. These folks will take the time to compare several models/brands at their desk and call you back with the results. It is just a great company. It is possible to get a very good pair for not a lot of money.

The man was, is, and will always be a politician. Text like this will not ever impress me. Time is beginning to tell the truth about his policies while he was governor. Some thoughts to ponder involve higher percentage of children at the poverty level, road repair neglect, and a massive exodus of our educated youth to other states, all happening with ties to his promotions of saving money for the taxpayers. The money saving thing is little more than a shell game. An example being lower property taxes combined with higher sales tax. Hoosiers fail to understand that the taxes are still being collected. But in the case of our sales tax, the write-off that came with the higher property taxes is gone. I also might add that my farmland taxes went up sharply when the homeowner taxes declined. His bread and butter is appealing to the base human emotion that is stranded around saving money for those he pretends to serve. Some might even say that he is using self-interest and the greed of individuals as a smoke screen for the propagation of his own agendas. I remain thrilled that he is not running IU.

It would be a good idea to write up a plan that outlines as many of the details concerning all stakeholder roles, land uses, improvements, guest use, expenses etc. Many families have ended up in some serious conflict over misunderstandings in joint real-estate dealings. I have seen it happen in the best of families. Communication is critical and done in writing is always the best. Good luck, it can be a great thing for all family members if everyone is on the same page.

I am a farmer and none of this offends me in any way. I also own some ground that is forested and consider it equal to my land that produces crops and supports livestock. All I know is that my land supports a great deal of wildlife owned by the citizens of Indiana and I pay a very large amount of money to the state in taxes for the right to own this ground. I am not complaining, just telling it as it is.

I have a 50 year old ranch style house that is in need of replumbing. It is not a real complex job. The home is a single story, one bath house. I will trade the exclusive hunting rights to a 64 acre wooded property that has plenty of deer and turkey to someone who is a skilled plumber and is able to do a quality job. The house and acreage is located in Lawrence County not far from Mitchell. This is an offer for one year with the potential for additional years.

I was raised to respect the Copperheads and let them live. Over the years I have gotten along fine with at least twenty Copperhead or Timber Rattler sightings. I have not bothered them and they have not bothered me. Of course, I keep a sharp eye out for them.

I have not heard any in my Brown County woods where I live in close to twenty years. In the good old days, I would hear them from April into June every evening. I do still hear some in the spring at a property I bought in Lawerence County. This woods is very different from end to end in tree type. So it must offer the correct habitat somewhere out there to support them. Hey, I need to get down there a little more often.

I have been lucky enough to see two of these during daylight hours. Both times in early spring and traveling across pasture ground. Unlucky for me I had no camera with me either time. The game cams have really changed things for wildlife spotting. You are very lucky.

I was a pretty decent student growing up in the seventies. I went to public schools in Indiana. My daughter is a college junior and I can tell you without a doubt that her Indiana public school education was far better than mine. What most people do not understand is that our schools in Indiana are providing quality learning opportunities for those that take advantage of what these schools have to offer and put in the effort needed to succeed. The media and our politicians all to often present our schools in a negative light while rarely dwelling on the positives of our schools. Mitch Daniels and Tony Bennett unfortunately have done very serious long range damage to our public schools for their own political gain.

I would say that there is a 95 percent chance that this is a tv antenna. I have one like it on my home in Florida. It is in the low to middle range as far as antennas go. More often this type is mounted on a side or end wall near the top or peak of the home.

I have worked very hard to pay for our farm ground and when you folks received a decrease in residential property taxes, guess what? My farmland taxes went up. I hate to say it but the tone here has taken a less than positive direction. It has the feel of the old "haves vrs. The have-nots". It is much easier to complain about farmers getting a free pass than to take time to understand that these folks provide and support the largest percentage of wildlife habitat ground in our state. I do however, see that many of the trusts do take advantage of the landowner rights. My main point is that most farmers have earned this small perk.
