I have not heard any in my Brown County woods where I live in close to twenty years. In the good old days, I would hear them from April into June every evening. I do still hear some in the spring at a property I bought in Lawerence County. This woods is very different from end to end in tree type. So it must offer the correct habitat somewhere out there to support them. Hey, I need to get down there a little more often.

They are, in my opinion, the perfect night time song bird. Love hearing them as I sit on the back porch.

Heard one while camping @harden ridge in july. Haven't heard one this year here at home but have the last 4. Fun to get the kids out to here them.

We have them every year here at our place in NW Greene County. Usually late spring/early summer. I remember they were a little early this spring because a buddy from northern Indiana was down here the 1st of April and one started singing and he said "What the heck is that!" My wife and I couldn't believe he had never heard a whippoorwill!
