Gentlemen. Here is an amazing tool we can use to let our Congressmen know how we feel on the proposed and future legislation. It is time to participate on a level that is above some WSJ poll. I don't care if you have written 3 letters already, more is better, do both! What do I do you ask? Go here: --> OPPOSE! www.popvox.com/bills/us/112/x102Oppose the bill.

If anyone passes on eating their venison cause they believe its not "organic" by whomsoever's standard... feel free to ship it to me!
Oh and if your worried about a ruminant eating corn, wheat and soybeans (that they choose to eat, not forced to eat in a feed lot)... just imagine what all that corn, wheat and soy you've been eating is doing to you...

I would say that most on here don't fully understand the meaning of "organic" Is Venison organic? - the answer is YES Just because a deer eats field corn does not make it "non organic" A deer chooses what it eats...probably by what is most palatable and easiest to access To get USDA certification for organic - Animals marketed as organic cannot receive any antibiotics, growth hormones or other drugs other than vaccinations Organic certification ensures that ruminants (grazers) have daily access to well-managed pasture in the grazing season, at least 120 days per year Grazing animals must have regular access to pasture, and poultry may not be caged and must also have access to the outdoors Organic meat has no artificial colors, flavors or preservatives added. Regulations allow certain organically produced additives in some cases. Read more: Definition of Organic Meat | eHow.com www.ehow.com/about_6541505_definition-organic-meat.html#ixzz1tjqebjNQ

If you are still shooting does - be sure they really are does... I know of one shed buck killed on Sunday, and I saw a shed buck last night... Did not appear to be stressed in any way, and was a good size deer. Much bigger than the spike he was with.

I wanted to share my recipe for smoked venison tenderloin... Remove tenderloins whole and clean all blood - fat - sinew that may be present. I never use water I just take a paper towel and wipe off any excess blood... I have found that Allegro marinade is great for game meat... they actually have one specifically for game meat; but I was out. I inject a little into the tenderloin Then add about a cup in a zip lock bag and let it marinate for a couple hours in the fridge... I then wrap them in bacon (not so much for flavor, but to keep them moist ) I added a couple chili poblano peppers to one for some heat... Alow them to sit out and come up to room temperature. Set smoker to 190 degrees... I used apple, but I have used mesquite; both are excellent. Place in smoker and cook until the internal temp reaches 140-145 degrees... This is medium rare. I only add wood twice during the smoking process as I have found too much can give it a bitter flavor.... Final product ;D

I could hardly imagine the how wrong this post would go when I made my first post. If there was any intent on breaking the law, do you really think I would post it on the internet? Trust me when I say I do not have a hard time sleeping at night becuase of my actions. At no time did I have intentionaly break the law. If there is a fine to pay because of my actions, I would gladly pay. You know the funny thing about clean living is you don't have to constantly look over your shoulder worried that you will get caught. I really don't have to justify my actions but I have learned a few things from this and will probably do a few things differently in the future. My biggest shock came from the few individuals on this site that take every oppurtunity to my actions and apply a negative intent to them. My favorite part of calling myself a hunter is that I believe that as a group, we are good people. It seems that as a result of my post, it became very clear that there are a few egotistical "hunters" on this forum that think there way is the only way to hunt and there actions are always right, all of the time. BS Thanks to those of you that provided support and encouragment, both on the post and on pm's. Good luck on your season and God Bless. Antler - you did right - you learned something, and now you have the knowlege of what not to do... just remember Don't argue with stupid people. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience

Take the tenderloins (on the inside next to spine - pelvis) marinate in Alegro Marinade a couple hours, wrap said loins in bacon (not for flavor - but to keep them moist) set smoker at 190 (I use mesquite chips) and smoke till the loin internal temp reaches around 145-150 Folks that are getting bad results using a smoker; typically add too many chips and over smoke it, or cook till it dries out the meat. I served this dish for the football games last Sunday... It got rave reviews... as in best meat I have ever tasted, better then filet mignon...etc. It didnt last long

My favorite is the Mudddy Outdoors harness, Its extremely lightweight, has a built in bino harness, comes with a lineman's rope and carabineer. I have used the HSS in the past, but found it to be too cumbersome and hot in the warmer months. I also put up a safeline after I hang my sets - so that I am attached all the way up and down....
