I'm looking at buying a treestand safety harness. I've only used one brand to date, and I hate it. I just don't use it because of it. I've never found one that is easy to use. End result is that I'm 30 ft in a tree with no harness. As I get older things become a little different, and I value my life a little more. Any recommendations on a certain brand of harness that you like?

Which one do you have that you hate so much. Many of us have harnesses that came with stands we are willing to give away.

Hunter Safety System.
I currently use the pro series and also have an older reversible. As easy to put on as a vest and comfortable enough that you dont know you are wearing it.

I have an old HSS from like 2000 or 2001. It's a hundred straps that I can't ever figure out. I think I'd like the the vest if it isn't bulky. When I think of a vest I think of a boating life jacket.
I've always wondered how many people do an don't wear them.
How many of you folks don't wear a harness?

I never climb a tree without my HSS vest on and tied to a HSS Lifeline. They have new models that are much lighter that I'm looking at now. They're not cheap but what's your life worth?

I agree! Hunters Safety System is awesome. Takes seconds to put on! I wouldn't be in a tree without a harness period!

I wear one that came with one of my stands. There are a bunch out there that look a lot easier to figure out in the dark, but I'm sure this one will do the job if ever needed.
I never get in a tree without it and have went home before when I realized I did not have it. I used to not wear it in ladder stands because I felt confident in their construction and the amount of room they offer. A guy on our farm had a ladder fail and he broke his back. Something about him telling me how he had to crawl back to the truck makes me think it is more comfortable to have a harness on.

My favorite is the Mudddy Outdoors harness, Its extremely lightweight, has a built in bino harness, comes with a lineman's rope and carabineer. I have used the HSS in the past, but found it to be too cumbersome and hot in the warmer months. I also put up a safeline after I hang my sets - so that I am attached all the way up and down....

Well thanks all. I ordered this one... www.Dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11881832. As a teenager I was fearless going 30-35 feet in a small tree, wind blowing, taking the climber apart to go over limbs 15' up, etc. All with no harness. The other morning I stood up to stretch, and for some reason I got real nervous. There's no place in the deer woods for a height nervous shooter. You already have the adrenaline pumping, and the wind blowing the tree. Adding the nervousness of being in a stand is going to kill confidence. I think the harness will help me feel a lot less nervous. Kind of weird that this is the first year it started happening.

I use a HSS vest, all tied snapped into a vest, easy to use , has car seat belt buckles for the legs.
Would not go up without one, fell from 25 plus feet early morning in the dark, my HSS vest saved me
