If you are still shooting does - be sure they really are does... I know of one shed buck killed on Sunday, and I saw a shed buck last night... Did not appear to be stressed in any way, and was a good size deer. Much bigger than the spike he was with.

Very good suggestion, this was deer was taken last weekend of Muzzleloader 2010 It however was shot as a buck, when we got to it both sides had been shed. We ended up finding both sets. Here it is with its antlers on, would of been a Booner if he wouldn't of dropped em. Always will be in our minds though, don't need a piece of paper to say its a trophy.

I swear I saw a buck two days ago that had already shed! What's up with that? He looked great. Didn't seem hurt or anything...

I shot a large doe in late muzzleloader season a few years ago and it turned out to be a buck that shed his antlers. Here's why he shed them early: I didn't see it limping, I just turned around and it was there, standing in the field. I shot it before it took a step. The leg bone overlapped about 1 1/2" and was starting to fuse back together.

Have found shed's as early as thanksgiving before. Guess it's kinda like human's, as some of us shed our hair before other's. LOL

This is a good thread.
I have never run into an early shed before. At least not one with a skull attached.
I like learning new stuff.
