For you boys that have hunted deer for a while. A buddy and I got into a discussion about muzzleloading deer regs, back in the "old days" [circa 1979/80].
He said that when muzzleloading was introduced in Indiana, it was a doe only proposition in the beginning. Of course I call BS! ;D.
As I remember, back then you could buy a ML tag in gun season, and if you didn't fill it, you could hunt a buck only with the same tag in the late 9 day ML season. It was later that they switched the tag to either sex. This was before bonus county permits, and when they changed the law that you had to buy a second ML tag to hunt a buck.
Have I basically got this right, or am I having a brain fart about the old days?
Any help to set this straight would be appreciated. ;D Thanks!

I picked Perry. He's not an east coast RINO, nor is he a beltway insider. He may not be great at debating, but I like his ideas.
I will say this, no matter who gets the republican nod, I'll vote for that person over the present "situation".

After 30 plus years of deer hunting, I've decided that the best camo pattern for deer hunting in Nov. and Dec. is.......carhartt brown! [grin]

I voted average, because I did see deer. However, this was probably the worst season I've had in a long time. Lost my property that I've hunted on for over 30 yrs, 3 weeks before gun season. Scrambled and picked up 3-4 places. Did kill a nice doe opening day. Wind, moon, and sporadic rut activity combined to make this a less than stellar deer, for me. All of my opportunities came frome 10:30am to 2:00pm, the times I was out. Except for opening day[am], little/no activity morning and evenings.

We are doing the two cow cape buff as a euro mount on a plaque. My son is having the hippo tusks mounted on a wooden plaque of the african continent. Also, he is having a footstool made out of some of the hippo hide. Nothing can be done with the elephant, because tuskless cows are non exportable.

Looks like you and your son had a successful hunt! nice looking rifle, is it the same one in each photo and what caliber(s) were you using? thanks for posting the photos. We each had a Ruger No. 1, 375 H&H mag. If you look at the pics, closely, mine has a black recoil pad, and my son's had a red one. It was the only way we could tell them apart. ;D maddog

I wouldn't bet on the corn price going down, when the reality of this crop hits home in Nov. I've worked in the seed business for almost 40 yrs. The corn crop losses, in Indiana and other states due to weather, in all probability will show 3-4 million fewer acres, than the govt. crop report. The govt. is trying to keep a lid on corn going up to the $10/bushel range, for a while. In most areas it's been caused by too much rainfall. However, in some areas, it has been caused by drought. Time will tell.....

My son just called me. He has to set his schedule up for fall pro football. He asked me when opening day of fall firearms season was. I told him that it is usually the 2nd Sat., in Nov.[Nov.12]. When does the state announce the date? Did I give my son the right date, for 2011? Any answer would be of help. Thanks!

Read my local Sunday paper, this morning. On the opinion page, the paper was all over the ruling, and the readers were 90%+ AGAINST the court ruling. I hope this BS gets shot down very quickly, before somebody gets killed over this crap!

Boys, live in White Co., most of my life. Discussion came up, yesterday, about where the tippecanoe river ends, and lake shafer begins. Most people, locally, say lowes bridge. However, plat books show it farther north. Reason this came up, is because of size limits on black bass. 12" river, 14" lake.
Anyone from my area, or familiar with the lake/river fishing, in that area know? May post this question, to a CO, but thought maybe someone could sort this out, here. Thanks!

Well, you don't say what your budget is, but you could be at Wilderness Hunting Lodge, in TN. in about 6 hrs. from Shelbyville. Good 3 day hunt, with hog, butchering, etc. for under $1000.

Well, got up this AM, and not as bad as predicted. Had snow[2-3"] and sleet/freezing rain. Some ice on the trees, but I've seen worse. My county [White] is one of 17 that's under a snow emergency, but the Mrs. and I weren't going anywhere, anyway. Biggest job I got is scooping a 2' drift against the back door, so we can get out.

I tried to watch it, cause I really love anything to do with wild hogs. However, about 40 min. into it, I shut it off and went to bed. To overly melodramatic....and a lot of media misinformation. JMHO

Bad choice, the shotgun scopes have the paralex set for 75 yards. the Leupold is a good choice as is the varible power 2 x 7, but make sure you get the rifle verson on a rifle. I have a 1-4x Leupold VX II, that has been on my Marlin Guide Gun, for several years. It is a heavy duplex shotgun scope. I've killed hogs, in Texas, out to 200 yds., with that rig, and used it in Africa, in 2008. It's going on my ruger no. 1, for my trip back to Africa, this summer. Never saw much difference in the use of the scopes, despite the parallax difference. I have no issues with shotgun scopes on rifles out to say +/- 200 yds. maddog
