Since sunrise this morning the county highway has been working on my road pushing back the drifts and heavily plowed snow from the previous snow storms in order to make room for what is predicted to hit us in the next few days. Chicago weather stations are saying 25-30 inches of snow with 30mph winds and gusts up to 50mph. Right now the winds are are blowing pretty good and everybody is getting ready for this storm. HIGHCOTTON: THESE MIGHT BE A REPEAT OF THE BLIZZARD OF 1978.

Taking it all in stride here. ;D Still not sure how much we're going to get, but it sounds like at least 10", though weather.com is saying parts of the NorthEast (they don't say WHAT part) could get up to 2 FEET of snow. It's been one storm after another the last 4 weeks- we get done plowing, cleaning up, etc., get a days rest then we are back to plowing the next storm. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

A quote from The Weather Channel web page and Winter Warning: "POTENTIALLY CATASTROPHIC WINTER STORM TO IMPACT CENTRAL INDIANA."
They issue watches anytime it *might* snow and a warning when the chances are more than 50/50 of actually getting anything.
To me it dulls the sense of urgency that might be associated with a real weather event.
The weather industry has become the newest "Shepherd Boy" and the weather is the "Wolf".
Wal Mart loves them though .... things are just flying off the shelves around here.

We have had snow and ice before? Here in Chicago you will have a hard time getting into a food store. Good luck all.

The generator is tuned up and ready and all other camping stuff out and ready.. I usually don't worry about it to much but for some reason this one has me worried.. if we didn't have the little one at home I would rest a little easier and the wife not having to be at work at the hospital the nesxt two days and myself back to the firehouse on Wednesday.... I think it was the word CATASTROPHIC on last warning. Everyone be safe and take care of your friends and neighbors.

I used to not worry about this stuff and just took it as it came. Now with the kids things are a little different. Heading to the parents house tonight as they have a woodstove and two generators.

I was in the western part of Indiana today listening to WGN and heard a few callers mention the same thing about B-78. Sure hope it doesn't get that bad for ya'll up there.

Knox County is going to be right on the line for what is coming. We might end up with all rain and we might end up with an inch of ice.
50 Miles is going to make a huge difference in this one ..... the difference between a wet nasty day and the possibility of no power for a week.

Been there, swilk. Two years ago with the HUGE Ice Storm we had down here in Ky. Power was out for 15 days!! Hope you Guys don't end up with what we had two years ago.
