I will be on vacation the first week of March and I am really hoping to go hog hunting. I really would prefer not to drive all the way to Texas or Florida. I am also not the guy that is looking to spend a whopping amount... Not trying to be cheap but I know what I can afford and still not get beat up too bad by the boss...(wifey)...lol
Does anyone have any suggestions?
I appreciate any thoughts...

Well, you don't say what your budget is, but you could be at Wilderness Hunting Lodge, in TN. in about 6 hrs. from Shelbyville. Good 3 day hunt, with hog, butchering, etc. for under $1000.

I can refer you to a good place in South Ga., if you go the unguided route, it's very cheap, less than $125 per day if you do your own baiting. Includes ladging, but you take care of the hogs you kill at that rate.

I've got Hoosiers going down the next two weeks for a couple of hunts. There are plenty of hogs there. Very good hunt, but you will likely want to figure on do a little bit of night hunting in March, they start getting a little bit nocturnal by then.

Could you give me some contact information on them? How far is the drive?

Be careful going somewhere not known for having wild hogs. A buddy and I thought we'd take a trip to a place called "Crooked Creek Hunting Lodge" in Jamestown, TN. It was a huge scam. The "stand" we were in had about half a landfill's worth of garbage underneath it from previous hunters and the "wild" hogs just happened to show up about 2 minutes after our guide came to check on us. We were later told by locals they ship the pigs in and keep them in a pen in the woods then run them down the fence row we were sitting over. Needless to say there was a pretty obvious trail where several other "wild" hogs had previously traveled. We killed 2 hogs from there within 30 minutes of hunting our first evening and weren't even supposed to get started until the next morning.

Good point, you hunted pen raised hogs turned loose, the ones in Ga. I'm talking about are all wild hogs. All fair chase and then some.
