I started to, but the information was so trumped up I turned it. When they said that the deer would starve if they couldn't get to the feeders due to hogs on that Texas ranch, I had enough! It seemed about like Monster Quest. Trying to make everything more dramatic than real life dictates.

I tried to watch it, cause I really love anything to do with wild hogs. However, about 40 min. into it, I shut it off and went to bed. To overly melodramatic....and a lot of media misinformation. JMHO

Lot of hogs out there. Ought to be a law that everybody has to kill at least 5 per year just to keep us even.

Even though I've never been hogdogging I have been on a couple of SC sites long enough and reading about the hunts that have been posted with pics and videos that I also had to turn off this media circus after gagging through it for 30 minutes...that's all it was. I do agree that that there are more hogs now than ever before but this show was sensationalism at it's best. I made a post on one of the main SC sites for hog dogging to see if anybody there has ever used or heard about Great Danes being used since I have never read about anyone using them-seems like it's usually a pit or mix thereof, some type of cur, or another type of field dog but not a GD. If I get any replies from that site (and they are of the family type I can repost ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ) I'll move over 'em here to see some firsthand feedback.

The guys we hunt on use bull dogs and cur hounds. Takes em about 10 seconds to bark on a track where we hunt. The problem is some parts of the swamp can't be accessed by normal humans. It's very thick vegatation, so I'm not sure a GD would be the correct breed to use?

I'm thinking that was posted here a couple of years ago....now just how do you go about finding the places to hunt these feral non-native pests in Indiana??? I have been on that quest for several years now and have got no where! Apparently the people that do have these are fairly tight lipped and aren't concerned about them spreading. I have talked to the Lawrence Co ICO, the Lawrence Co Ext office, US Wildlife Services personnel in that area, along with several other leads that have been suggested but to no avail....these people that know where they are cannot divulge whose property the hogs are on to even try asking permission to hunt them Wonder if it would be possible to sue these jerks (the property owners)when I find them up here tearing up my property ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) I really think that our DNR doesn't want to acknowledge we have them here because of the cost of trying to keep track of them. Oh yeah-ANY feral hogs that killed in IN are to be reported to the state Board of Animal Health ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) but try getting any pertinent information from them. I got the royal run around when I contacted them and after several calls and requests I was finally able to get a list of where feral hogs had been reported killed by county....and that was it!!!! Absolutely no dates, no times, what sex, how many were spotted ![>:(](https://www.indianagunowners.com/images/smilies/woot.gif) Totally useless information for any kind of scouting. For just an exact opposite of reporting- check out Michigans DNR...or did you even know they had feral hogs??? At least MI is being VERY proactive about trying to get rid of their feral hog population-one phone call or email and you can find out everything that IN does NOT report-which even includes the nearest crossroads!!!

There are small populations along the lower East Fork of the White River in Lawrence and Martin counties.

I don't blame anyone for not talking about hog sightings. Call me selfish, but I saw first hand what happened when my buddy and I killed our first 6. Within a week there were people everywhere trying to shoot one. Hogs are smart and noticed it too. You wouldn't see any till the next winter and the whole thing would repeat itself. Heck, a reporter from Indy called wanting to go hunting with us sometime. I politely declined to accept the company.
Haven't been but once in the last couple years and that was just because of some sightings reported to a CO I know. Thursday night would be a good time to go. Supposed to be 8 degrees.

In all fairness the ICO did tell me that there had been a lot trespassers and people that had no respect for property owners that had caused a lot of problems.....which after watching some hog hunting threads on some other sites I could see ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png) Kind of copulated the pooch for real sportsmen and ethical hunters... Yup Thurs night probably would but something tells me I wouldn't make it back to work by 0700 Friday ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
