Not sure. Kept good track, until about 10 yrs. ago. Started hunting deer in 1978 and got my 1st, in 1979 with a muzzleloader. Haven't missed a season since, and haven't had a year that I havent killed at least 1 deer. I didn't start until I was about 27, I'm 59 and 3/4 now. A good guess would be 80-85 deer.

Well, I have no issues with the powerbelts. I've taken 3 deer the last 2 yrs. with them, and my son got his 1st ML kill, this season with them. Big thing is don't drive them too fast, cause they are soft lead bullets. I use 80 gr. of T7 3fg. Seems to be good enough.

Well, it's already been out, and taken 2 does in firearms season, but I'll be using my CVA wolf, with 80 gr. of T7 3f, and 295 gr. powerbelts. I put a nikon 2x7 shotgun scope on board, and it shoots great! ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/P1000163.jpg) maddog

varmint101, while I've killed 5 deer, in the last 2 yrs., I've also missed some shots, that with my old shotgun, would have been "duck soup". I've tried bullet weights from 225gr. to 270 gr. Both hand loads and factory loads. I have been using the leverevolutions, because the terminal performance, on deer, is awesome. That being said, the gun does tight groups out to 50 yds. or so. However, at 100 yds. and beyond, the groups just open up to all over the place. I missed 2 deer opening day, at 75 and 100 yds. I'm blaming it on the fact that it is a 1-38 twist, plus I suspect it is over bored. I don't want to go to cast bullets, therefore I'm selling the gun. I'll get something different for next season, but for now, I'll use the Wolf for the remainder of the year. I'm not ranting Marlin, because I have a .45-70 Guide Gun and a .22 39a. Both of which I love. Just can't figure out why they don't do a barrel with a 1/20 to 1/22 twist, and tighten up the bore tolerances. I have a buddy that bought one 2 yrs. ago, and he's had the same experience. His is for sale also. The Wolf will out shoot the 1894, all day long.

So far, so good. My son and I hunted the 1st 3 days of the season, and have 5 in the freezer, so far. Here is some pics. After 3 yrs. of hunting with my Marlin 1894 44 mag., even though I have killed 5 deer with it, in the last 2 yrs., I'm not happy. Gonna hunt the rest of the season with my CVA wolf, and sell the Marlin. ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/P1000156.jpg) Dan's buck. 9 pt., 195 lbs. field dressed. ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/DeerSeason2010001.jpg) ![](http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii198/maddog1951/P1000163.jpg) 2 does taken Sunday with the CVA wolf, after missing a buck and a doe on Sat. with the Marlin. maddog

The only real area that is somewhat gray, is the taxidermy and then the shipping. Whether to ship air or ocean freight, etc. We worked with great agent, here in the states, for our plains game safari, in July 2008. If you are going to go, I'd sure recommend www.cruisersafaris.com/Bob Clark, their agent here in the US, is great. There were absolutely no surprises, from beginning to end. maddog

$802 for my 1/2. Which includes air freight to Chicago, customs/F&W clearance, and shipped to my home.

Well, preliminary reports on corn are kinda all over the place 130 -230 bu./acre. It's dry, because we are about 4 wks. ahead on heat units[the corn thinks its mid/late Oct.]. But we had a lot of water damage in our area, so I don't think we are going to have a bumper crop. Beans, I have heard are 50-65+ bu./acre.

Boys, thanks for the responses. I'm gonna be cautious. I do have a Lee factory crimp die, that fits into the equation. Also, for deer hunting, I'm looking at below max/moderate loads, in the 1400-1600 fps.
i'll keep you posted, as things develop.

Well, I'm going to play with my 45-70 marlin guide gun, this winter. I'm going to take some Hornady LE brass, and trim it to 1.8". Then I'm going to load some different bullets "out" to get back to the COL of the caliber. I'm gonna start with some made up dummy rounds, to make sure they cycle correctly. Then work up some loads to check for acuracy. If it works, I'm going to sell my marlin 1894, 44 mag., and hunt with my GG, in the fall of 2011. Provided of course, they actually get that part of the proposal passed. Sure would make things easier, if they just legalized the 45-70! ;D

Almost all my big bucks have been taken in a big picked cornfield. Of the 4 I'm thinking about, 3 were taken after 3 pm., and 1 was taken right at daylight.

while I agree with thecommisioner, I DO like your plan. It makes a lot more sense than all the current proposals.

well, all I know is that last year, because of standing corn, at the end of 9 days of hunting, my son and I had 1 doe between us. On the next to the last day of firearms season, they finally got the corn picked, and we took 4 deer. 1 buck and 3 does.

For those of you in the Indianapolis[or Lafayette] area, do you know of any military surplus or shoe stores that are stocking dealers for desert boots? Could be converse, hi-tech, danners, etc. I don't want to order them on line, because I have some feet issues, and prefer to try them on before buying them. Store name and a telephone number would be great. Thanks!
