We're counting piney squirrels in this contest? If we are, I need to adjust my count. I’d say a squirrel is a squirrel is a squirrel . No high fence squirrels though.. 😉 What if it was on 750 acres?

If we all start ccrowdsourcing our experience and sharing our findings we could all benefit I've been out twice this year and here's what I found my first counting if it was to a Fish and wildlife area I frequently hunt. Deer population there looks very good the deer were feeding in the corn and on honey locus and moving across the road to soybeans A group of five crossed in front of me so therefore I investigated it's rare to see that many in a fish and wildlife area. I went back Wednesday to a different portion of the same fish and wildlife area. Also found deer feeding near the corn the oak mast crop looks very good. The section of the fish and wildlife area also had several deer sign and deer. The population was so dense they were feeding on multiflora Rose. I came across two scrapes which seems kind of early. Whathave rest of you guys been seeing on trail cams and scouting?

I can't say I have seen it on trails, but I have seen it in some of my plots where I let things get a little out of hand and then mow. The bugs seem to become more accessible to the birds then and they seem to take advantage. I try to only mow 1/2 of my plots at a time so the plants and weeds tend to be in different growth stages and this seems to help with the bugs and bugging activity as well. I have some plots that I don't intend on looking like the cover of a magazine, but instead look like a neglected food plot with weeds. I like the diversity and mow to prevent seeding, but the mowed strips the fresh growth the deer find and the easy of movement and access to bugs the turkey seem to like. Especially later in the summer. Have you ever attempted to optimize your mowing to bring in deer or turkeys to a specific stand? I have seen 6-8 inches listed as the best height for mowing clover but no discussion on the best height for native vegatation but expect its similar. Also curious about timing of fertilization for prime attraction.

I talk my buddy into making a new trail on his 70. I went back yesterday to spray it in preparation for a new food plot. I noticed a lot of turkey sign for there's a newer on the trail that he just bushhogged. As I was praying the area I also noticed an increase number of crickets and insects and it flies were swarming the area. This caused me to do a Google search about Bush hogging for turkey habitat. I just wondered if anyone else had purposely or accidentally had the same experience here ?

Wind whipped the Egyptian wheat again. Think it's too late for it to straighten back up

Been generally happy with Spypoint. 3 out of 4 are still working after 2 years. Had some electronic glitches. Ants did one in and one was replaced under warranty. Not perfect but very helpful.

I was at work watching on tv. My first thoughts were we are going to war with someone and the world was going to change. I was working in the operating room and could not believe they kept doing cases during the entire thing.

My son was drawn for Atterbury archery. Never been there. It gives no information as far as what areas the hunt takes place in. Would like to at least look at a map and not go in completely blind. Anybody have any insight as to where the deer hunting areas are? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Deer are creatures of the edge. Hunt the edges! Roads. Tank range. Lakes. Trash dump can all be great places there. Ridge tops with white oaks can also be great there. Nothing wrong with thick places they hide in either. All else fails follow the guy with a hitch haul on the back of his truck or SUV as long as it's not a silver minivan😉

So I saw 3 bucks in a soybean field tonight at 530 off emerson near the 65 southport exit. He talks about before and after the fronts and when the rain finally stopped those bricks were out eating. I have drove past that field hundreds of times and have never seen 3 bucks right off the road. Cool stuff I've seen a nick buck just south of there in the weeds where they were supposed to put Cabelas.

I used a Lanskey kit to get it scary sharp. This must be some tough steel. I wore out my course stone on it. Like the painters tape to save your mirror finish. I've got to try that although I've been mostly happy with my chefs choice sharpener.

That was a good review! I would have ever thought 25lb spider wire fishing line would have broken but it did, Put it back up with string trimmer line. It was a fight to cut it with my hunting knife. Pretty sure the nail will come out of the wall before it breaks.

The thick lush strips are generic red and Dutch clover that was frost seeded around march. Pure attraction is coming up in between. Think the doves picked up a lot of that seed.

This is a multi purpose pic. It shows Egyptian wheat progress and some up and comers, as well as food plot progress. The buck furthest in the back is a 10 pointer that might be a shooter.

I was sitting quietly last night at my computer, my nose started to itch so I sneezed a couple of times. I was henceforth attacked about the head by a 120 class 8 point euro mount as it fell from the wall. I was left startled bewildered and glasessesless😳.

Got my Whitetail Institute tubers spread yesterday. Liked the looks of the ground so well that I ordered some oats, winter peas and Imperial clover. Frost seeded some Imperial Clover last winter and it looks fantastic. Planning on two acres of the clover next Spring. That is really nice clover. Might figure this out some day...... Ordered the seed yesterday. Expected delivery is tomorrow. Comes from Lexington, KY. I like that I plan on quite a bit or frost seeding clover around March. It seems easy and effective.

Anybody found anything that works better than maple to hinge cut for deer to nibble on?
