I think it's 65 years or older. The annual goes to something like $3 and the lifetime is I think $17 or maybe it's 20. Also,in the year after you turn 65 you can get an annual park pass for $20.I think that's why they wouldn't give me one last year.Somebody on here knows more about this than I do I'm sure. Wade

I'm a LTL holder. I voted NO. It doesn't affect me so no bias in that respect.I also have my senior citizen LTL for fishing.i was born and raised here and remember the fee's involved but not the pricing. It was very low in comparison to today. The actual changes along with a list of all the fees is posted in the legislation section of this forum. It looks like there is ample opportunity to collect moneys from everyone except the new born and dead.
The main reason I voted no is because DNR works against the sportsman instead of with or for them. We,the sportsman are funding what they are doing and that isn't always to our benefit. The introduction of the Otter has wiped out about all fish in streams they have it and the fish population has not rebounded.Sooner or later it will happen to a stream you like to fish and the largest fish in it will be a 6" chub.We paid for this with our sportsmans dollars.
Go to the deer board and read about the predation of deer(and other wildlife)And yet the state is preserving the bobcat. This is a super natural predator and the population continues to grow under the states protection. This to is being done with sportsmans dollars to the demise of the game we seek.Bobcat are some serious killing machines!
There is a regional cry in the midwest over the Asian carp invasion yet we have no tools to battle this with. We were allowed "snagging" until the state made it illegal. That's just wrong. The carp are taking over Indiana waters and we have no effective way of slowing it down. This is so serious that in my opinion all restrictions should be lifted concerning Asian carp. You shouldn't need a license to kill as many as you can,Shoot, literally, use firearms.electricity anything up to and including dynamite if it could be done safely and without injuring other fish.
I know this sounds far fetched but the point is the Indiana sportsman are not at the top of the list of DNR concerns. They are more than happy to take out money to support projects that take away opportunity for the sportsman. Wade

If it were me I think I'd use rock salt. That way you can get an idea of all the critters using that are.Years ago we cut out a fence row and wanted to get the stumps.I don't remember how much salt was used per the area but dumping it all over and around the stumps lead to the deer digging out the stumps by chewing them for the trace salt content and by actual digging for it in the dirt also of course. This was before trail cams but it would have been nice to see what all was in the area. Back to hunting in the woods,I have a savage 24 in 223/20. Still haven't gotten it lined in but plan to use a Simmons 44mag on see thru mounts.Using the scope zero at 100yards for the 223 and open sights for the 20 with 4buck.Looks good on paper. When I get it set up I'll let you know.223 is rare but there's a lot of 222/20's out there. I agree but in the cases of people just harassing the sportsman I'd like to see them be charged instead of getting by with bad behavior. If they were actually charged and the punishment were severe enough maybe such things would go away.Of course the determination would have to be made by the officer or other state personnel. And charging someone would hit the news and people will not want to use the program for fear of repercussions. I don't know what the answer is! Wade

I'm still seeing some Lions Mane hanging of Oaks.Monday as I was on a backroad I found fall oysters.I took them hope but they didn't smell like fish.More like nasty mud so I put them on my mushroom site that pretty much confirmed they were oysters but because of the off smell I pitched them. So how 'bout it,are you gett'n out there? Wade

I understand that they are catching more actual poachers but I can't help but wonder what percentage of calls coming in a not actual poaching activity. There is one spot I used to trap on a creek that every time she saw me she called it in as being a poacher. Also one year on the evening before gun season I had stuck a doe and was after dark finding it and some nut neighbor a half mile away turned me in for killing a deer with a rifle. What happened is the neighbor south of me was shooting as he does a lot and that along with this guy seeing my flashlight got him to call it in. Then there is pita nd the folks that are just in error instead of just stupid or an a-hole.I'd bet over 50% of the calls are not legitimate. Wade

I DON'T WANT.BIGGER BUCKS I WANT MEAT IN THE FREEZER. you are telling me because you want bigger deer I have to too. The OBR benifits the FEW and not the MENY. Oh no,that's not the point I was trying to make.I was only implying that if you shoot young bucks they will never reach their full potential. In my opinion there are 5 things you must do to kill trophy deer.First I guess is that you have to have a place to hunt.next is the place you hunt has to have trophy deer. You can't kill them if they are not there.then you have to make up your mind you are not going to settle for a lesser deer. The fourth thing is you have to spend every available moment hanging off a tree(os similar). And the last thing is you have to make the shot. The more things that are missing from this equation the chance you have to take a big buck.Wade

Could be Woody but that has been my understanding. This is going back to the argument about OBR that was the precedent set forward at that time by those wanting the OBR.And being it passed,I guess I assumed that was their goal.It could have been different! I've slept since them!LOL!
On another note,my brother that works in Big Oaks mentioned they had the lowest deer harvest ever this year.I think he said 293 (gun I suppose) and that ain't much for 57,000 acres! Wade
