The only time I have been checked down there is when the Refuge first took over. COs were all over the place. Even checked our vehicles when we checked out. Confiscated any sheds found then also. Different place now that's for sure.

55 checked in Saturday, 26 as of 3pm Sunday.. Said it was their best weekend yet. How many hunters were hunting each day? Just wondering what the success ratio was?

Yes you can use PCR but not HPR.

Do the reserves have different weapon rules? Why was he hunting pre-firearm season with a slug gun/rifle? Or was this really an old out of state video? Yes. They start gun hunting earlier. You must apply and be drawn for these hunts.

Ok then! I have always just used Dawn and HOT water also but I also don't believe in seasoning a barrel. But I went to stainless barrel years ago.

Muzzy was last weekend. When we checked out about 5 or so Saturday my deer was number 7. Full moon and 80 degree temps didnt make it easy. I seen the button buck I shot and a nice buck the other guys in our unit kicked up while walking around. It's gonna be a tough year due to the amount of mast. There were literally nuts everywhere. I'm talking pin oaks, red oaks, white oaks, and beech nuts. Glad you clarified which kind of "nuts" were everywhere.

Sounds good. Probably best because like you said, need to season them before cooking. I was just going to try and save a step since I vac seal when I butcher. I have been looking at the Anova brand. Any suggestions there?

New style of cooking I want to try this year. Those of you who already do this is it better to seal and cook backstrap steaks already cut to steak thickness or leave the backstrap whole and slice afterwards? Also I usually vac seal my deer meat with a paper towel in the bag to stop the juices from reaching the sealer. Is it ok to cook the bag with this towel in or should it be removed and then resealed? Thanks for the help!

Only heard one bird this morning at Hoosier Forest. I would call and he would move away. Thankfully he kept talking and my last setup was just over a hill only about 50 yards from him. He couldn't resist that and peeked over the edge. 19.5# 10" beard and 1 1/8" Spurs.

Went last night for the first time. Very good food and service. Will be back. I showed this thread to a couple guys at work and 12 different people have tried it now and all good reports.

Just making sure but if I still have a buck tag I can shoot a buck with archery equipment all the way to Jan 3 even though anterless season is in with firearms? Seems clear to me in regs but wanted to make sure. Thanks!

Not sure how to get one before the hunt but you will get one at the registration. It changes daily because of military training.
