buddy and I thinking about trying the all you can eat walleye at Whiskey River, north of Martinsville this weekend. Apparently just under $10. Anybody been there and tried it?

Never been there but know right where it is and it does get pretty busy at times. The knuckle sandwich is right there as well and they have great food.

If you go there let us know how the Walleye is; drive by it and almost every day I've never been in there.

Considering Walleye is going for $12.00 a pound at my local Meijer I would say that's a deal.

I'll definitely go back! Sure, it ain't a fresh catch. But, for a good late lunch under $10...heck yeah! After a "pickle fries" appetizer, here's the plate we started with which included a "chef's potato" and green beans: About 15 minutes later, our girl brought another piping hot platter of fillets which we could not finish and took home in a box: I don't have a single complaint (and neither does my buddy). I'll go back another day to try their brisket!!!

Got a address to this place? Looks like the address is 9502 IN 144, Martinsville! Basically it's like the NW corner of 144 and 37!

The brisket is pretty good. It is not the BEST brisket I have ever had, but it is a very good meal nonetheless that I am more than happy to consume. Their pulled pork with whiskey glaze BBQ is my favorite.

Sounds interesting, though a bit of a hike for me. You can't find walleye at the store here, and the locally caught walleye and sauger taste like doody.

I've been by Whiskey River MANY times, but never stopped. It's not typically in an area were I go to eat out...and my cousin owns The Knuckle Sandwich in front of it, in the old DQ building. Their (Knuckle Sandwich) "Hubcap" pork tenderloin is HUGE! The bun is probably 10" in diameter, and the tenderloin sticks out on all sides. Not to mention, it's tasty, too.

Went last night for the first time. Very good food and service. Will be back. I showed this thread to a couple guys at work and 12 different people have tried it now and all good reports.

Went there yesterday with wife, son and daughter in law. Wife and I had the walleye. We weren't really disappointed, as it was tasty and plentiful, but we had both expected larger pieces of fish fried in a way that we had been used to, and the ones there seem to be some small, thin fillets, fried VERY thoroughly. I suppose this was done intentionally and is a style that is becoming more popular?
I remember going a couple decades ago to Frank and Mary's out west of Indy ( at Danville? ) for the catfish that were so popular with everyone at work, and we were surprised then, too, to receive catfish that were scored heavily and fried very thoroughly until crisp clean through! That was also done intentionally and they were proud of their product and it was well received by most folks, but we never went back. Just not the style we preferred.
The service was good at WR, and the meal was fine with the exception of being that "thin and crispy" style. Son had a burger and daughter in law had blackened grouper, and they both liked their choices pretty well.
I liked the atmosphere, kinda low-buck but clean and pleasant, friendly and casual.
Also enjoyed the background music being low and way in the background, not drowning out conversation like seems to be the norm in so many places. I'd go back to WR, but I'd try something else on the menu next time.
Just my opinion, like some folks like thin and crispy pizzas with lighter toppings and I like thick crusts and all the stuff I can get on 'em. Different strokes....
