Who takes off to deer hunt? Lol! On a serious note though, I've only taken one day of work off to hunt in over 20 years, and it was for a Big Oaks Monday hunt. Due to the problems of substituting workers during vacations, our plant shuts down annually the first week of July. I do hunt most evenings and weekends though.

Works great for me! Friday Nov 11th is Veterans Day which is a paid holiday and I can travel that day and get my stand set up. Take that whole next week off to hunt as I do every year. Fill my bundle license and then head home.

I have. The last 3 years I have taken vacation to go to Ohio with my nephew to hunt, but with him in Marland now I/we will not be going. I have taken time to bear hunt bobcat hunt hog hunt and elk hunt. I may see about a bear hunt again this year. I usually take one or two weeks in Jan or Feb to head south out of the cold here. I work in an unheated invironment and really like getting some were warm for a week or two in the dead or the cold.

Next year's harvest will be up also. Based off of previous trends though, the 2017 harvest will be way down. That's the year all of the naysayers are waiting for, just wait and see.

I'm planning on taking the entire 2016 season off, and I don't want to hunt opening day anywhere but my food plot land. I'm probably going to need a new gun for this too.
I would like to go on a baited black bear hunt someday. I'm pretty good at sitting and waiting.

I'm fortunate to have a job that allows me to take off with little or notice, whenever I desire. I make last minute decisions according to the weather. For me it's all about being proactive and anticipating when I may want to take off. If I have my jobs organized, I can operate from the tree via smartphone.

Because I live in Illinois I can't conveniently get out to hunt our place in Indiana. I always take the week off before the gun season to hunt.

I am lucky, my hunting ground is an 1 hour drive and I hunt both my neighborhood in Ohio and the farm in Indiana. I had a big 8 point with three small bucks cut through my yard yesterday late morning. Picture taken through the window did not come out very good.

Ridiculous...there are no deer in Indiana. NO hunting should be allowed till 2020. I will do what I always do, plan to take off the week before firearms, but hunt a ton of afternoons before as I have liberty of controlling my work for the most part.

Last evening on the 27th I saw the large 8 point and the other three with a doe, the re-re-re-rut is still happening in my neighborhood.

I took the week off before shotgun this year. It was way to warm and I don't even think I went once. Not scheduling any time off this year. I hunt mainly evenings anyway, no sense burning vacation time.
