H.H. sorry about PM. I don't know what I did wrong? Had a good time on my trip. The fishing was slow because of the weather and water condition. After the 5 hr. drive I fished 8 hrs. on weds. and got 10 fish.Sorry no pics. I was fishing by myself.Fished from 6:30 am till 8:00 pm(with an hour off for lunch) on thurs. and only caught 12.Fished till 11 am on fri and got 3.All the fish I caught were nice, the smallest around 2 1/2 lb and the biggest was well over 5 lbs. By far the best smallie I have ever caught!Weather was all over the place, rain, sun, wind, calm, dense fog and t-storms.I'm hoping to get back up there in the summer and I will go back next spring.I'm hooked on those big smallies! Thanks whitetail1 and H.H. for all your help.

I'm hoping to get a few nice ones a day.Weds. doesn't look good but thurs. not to bad.I got some xr50's just for this trip.I can handle the 1 to 2 ft. waves, any bigger I might worry.I have had my boat out in some rough stuff in NewEngland, but not on a lake the size of st.clair.Do you think tubes will still work?I love to jig fish and get bored pretty fast tossing and cranking. Thanks agian for info!

Do you think I will get any fish or will they be totaly shut down?Hate to drive 5 hrs. for nothing but if I can catch some good ones each day I will still go.

Whitetail1,thanks for the info.Sorry to hear you can't make it up to fish this year.I love this time of year for smallies and made up my mind that I was going to fish St.Clair in spring!I only have 1 question,I found the mile roads on the map[great map by the way] but nothing marked Selfridge. Is that a town,a road or something else? Thanks agian for your help.

I'm sorry, I don't normally get involved in theses debates. It just bothered me when you said "trigger happy nieghbor".It seemed to me that you are mad because he is not into deer management.I just feel it is ones choice to hunt the way they want, with whatever weapon the want as long as they don't break the law.I wasn't taking anything personaly.

I have only lived in Indiana for a few years and do not have private land to hunt.I hunt on state land only. It's kind of hard to manage for trophies.I don't understand why the deer I choose to kill would matter to you or anyone else.Yes I have never killed a trophy.Would I like to?Yes,I'm sure everyone would but if I never do it doesn't make me less of a hunter.I enjoy seeing game,a clean kill on any deer I shoot and meat in the freezer.

Doesn't your"trigger happy nieghbor"have the right to kill any size buck he wants to?I respect the fact that you are a trophy hunter, but not everyone feels the same way. After 30 yrs. of deer hunting I still get butterflies when I see any deer coming in.I have never killed a big trophy but if I did I don't think it would make me only hunt trophies. To each his own, that is why we live in this great country!

The storage area is a paved outdoor, fenced in lot.I don't know the owner personaly.when he told me he trapped 40 coons he might have been trying to impress me or calm me.I was pretty mad when I spoke to him.I am kind of worried about the feces, there was alot on the boat.I wore gloves and disifected as best I could.I don't know any other people storing things on the lot,but I haven't heard of anyone else having a problem. As soon as I get new carpet in I'm out of there!

the owner is not responsible for damage it's in the contract.I think the coon prob. comes from a waste management site that is not far away.He is not a friend, but has tried to be helpfull by letting me move boat to different areas and trapping coons.I just think he can't keep up.I think once the first coon got in my boat others can smell it's scent and check it out.I have tried cleaning out the holds but hard to get rid of urine smell.I'm gonna disinfect all holds again and replace all carpet, when thats done I'll move boat.

I keep my boat pretty clean.I only bass fish with lures, never use bait and don't keep any fish.I don't know why coons like my boat so much!I will most likely move boat but the closest storage is 20 min away, where I have it now is about 2 min.Just lazy I guess but after ordering $170.00 of new carpet today I think moving is way to go.The new storage area is close to woods too,so I'm afraid the same thing will happen there. Thanks for everyones help.

I have to keep my bass boat in storage and keep having racoons get up under my cover and distroying my boat. This is third time I've had this problem. The damage to my holds was so bad this time that I have to replace all the carpeting! Now they are using my seat as a toilet!!!Does anyone have any suggestions how to deter or repel them?Talked to the owner today and he says he has traped over 40 last year so that won't solve problem.Any help would be great. Thanks

I would like to go that time of year, but thats when I go to N.H. to fish with my family. This trip is for my wife and I.She doesn't fish much, prefers to get some sun and read while I fish.Trying to find info on cabin or house rentals, but not having much luck online. We don't want to stay in hotel, like to cook own meals and have a dock so don't have to trailer boat everyday.Want to go for a week so need place with shore power to charge boat batteries. There doesn't seem to be much available, but I'm still looking.

I lived in western Mass. most of my life. All my family still lives there.I have to say I do miss the clear, rocky lakes of new england.I would love to get the boy's to go up and try st.claire, but my dad is 86 and not much for long trips.Even for fishing, wich he still loves! It will be up to my wife when we go.AS long as I can fish I don't care!

I was on a ohio board and saw a nasty debate going on.A hunter told how he shot a big buck late in the evening. After waiting awhile he started tracking and bumped the deer.He waited more time and started trailing agian. He found the deer in a stream but still alive. He made another shot and put the deer down.Someone responded by calling him a low life scumbag poacher for shooting after legal hours.I think he did the right thing ending the deers suffering, what do you guys think?
