why......... when the subject of the proposed crossbow expansion comes to debate that the antis always seem to get in a huff and leave the debate? I think it's because they know that they are on the losing side based on FACTS. Any other opinions?

Why is it when members question a proposal, they are conidered anti's? Why is it that those that are pushing for said proposals get so defensive?

Nutz, while the definition of what a x-bow is or isn't is being bebated, those that are against the x-bow being called anti's is not in doubt. Your either for it(pro) or against it(anti) or don't care one way or the other(on the fence). The reason proponeents get defensive is simple, they are extremely tried of the anti's and the BS myths always thrown out about a simple tool that some may choose to hunt with.

I guess I don't understand what the big uproar is all about. The new compound bows shoot upwards of 360FPS. I mean in all reality, the pope and young club should have started new books when the solo cam technology catapulted the speed and accuracy of compound bows. I personally don't care "what" a hunter uses to harvest and animal as much as I care about the way they harvested it.(safely and ethically) Just my thoughts.

Most of the points from both sides have been hashed out and rehashed hundreds of times. No worth in whipping a dead freaking horse. Those that feel the strongest on both sides are the ones the dominate the debates and there is no compromise. No point in most to get involved in this type of debate.

Because HUNTING WITH A CROSSBOW IS NOT AS CHALLENGING AS PULLING BACK A VERTICAL BOW. Therefore it should be left where its at in the season...

So, the challenge is "pulling back" a vertical bow? Never knew it to be all that tough?

If they don't let crossbows in they should make it recurves only in the early season.

Duff, I totally get what you're saying....that is, most of us involved in these debates aren't going to change our minds. However, keep in mind that many hunters, especially new and young hunters, might not have pondered these issues before. By reading arguments from both sides, a person can make a more informed decision, thereby giving some useful purpose to these discussions.
IMO, it really comes down to personal preference. There's no right or wrong answer to this, just like there's no rightness, or wrongness to preferring apples over oranges (or vice versa).
That being said, if crossbows were the same as compounds, we wouldn't be having these discussions. Crossbows are vastly different, and that's why so many are fighting so hard for their inclusion. If compounds were the same, these people could simply pick up a compound, and there'd be no fuss.

Could be something totally different than ease of use or effectiveness. Could be that some guys want something new and they aren't sold on spearchucking yet. I'll bet that most new xbow guys will keep their compounds and use both. Gun guys will keep hunting with both. It'll add new guys for sure but most will already be deer hunters looking for something new and different.

Why is it...that 90% of the "crossbow debate" threads are started by the anti-crossbow side?

You said it, Trapper! HUNT AND LET HUNT. Thought about it but....na. Hunting with my 50s recurves and woodies, tyvm but ........in a world of too MANY "you can't do that" regulations, I'll vote for hunting with anything humane in the hands of the hunter and before anyone jumps that pile, ALL of em can be misused.......and have been too, IMHO.
Nope, I dont like lots of people out hunting. I dont like lots of people......period. LOL Too many people in the US and it isnt going to get "better" either yet I've no "right" to say anyone's preference is belittled because of my own being something else.
God Bless

The P & Y club is a private organization. They can do whatever they want. Nobody has to use their scoring method, or subscribe to their philosophy. Get over it.
