Where are you scrub? I work swing shifts and have the entire gun season off.

Sorry cowboy guns is the term that the guys at big oaks used at the safety briefing.

Hpr not allowed on big oaks. Cowboy guns, shotguns, and smoke poles are the extent of things that go bang.

Wow Woody how did you know that team safety was where I should be? I didn’t tell you that I was a firefighter did I?

It is interesting that with all of the mature deer walking around in Illinois they still killed 36% yearling bucks. Indiana only reported 27%. If both states are killing 3 deer per square mile, it sounds like Indiana is doing ok with the seasons just the way they are.
It wouldn’t bother me if we made it deer hunting season. Pick your weapon and go hunt during season. We could just limit tags to 1 buck and 2 does for the season.

I don’t run cameras. Don’t have anything against them, but don’t like to give money away. It seems that a lot of them get taken around our area and the handicapped lady is the only person that could keep an eye out. I like the surprise of whatever shows up, and if it tickles my fancy that day then it gets a ride in the truck.

Well I finally got it done. Calling seems to turn them off so I just planted myself inside the barn and waited. I saw 12 turkeys about 400 yards off and knew that they would eventually come to the feed lot. 4 were strutting. About 2 hours later they came around the barn and this guy didn’t leave. Doing my security check this morning and there are 5 long beards in the field that I was going to hunt this afternoon. I may just stop at the feed lot and keep watch, but I saw 2 last evening at 8 in this same field. I am just glad to see some mature birds after not seeing any last year.

Was driving to Salvation Army to help get ready for angel tree and watched a tree fall beside the road that I was on. It was probably 10” in diameter and was on the downhill side so it fell away from me and my truck.
