We are sitting at our area in big oaks. Hopefully we’ll have a great day. Would really like for my partner to kill a good buck, but any deer will make his day.

I don’t think that managing and reducing are synonyms. At one point years ago the state managed for deer population growth and then went to reduction and now the state is trying to keep the population consistent.

The state could make the park hunts earn a buck. That would give the hunters a reward for killing an antlerless deer. The State could also take away the one buck rule outside. Then some wouldn't use the park as a extra buck tag. Yes, but that would effect more people and animals than changing the rules for park hunts. It may also not line up with the state’s deer management goals.

Titanium you must know the right spots. I have been here 4 or five times and only once have I not failed to see a deer. I did see 5 today before I got out of the truck. The last was a good buck right where I was parking. He stepped out as I pulled in.

That is the same way that the buzzards are when the guns start going off. After the first 5 shots this morning I had about 8 fly over me.

You get drawn in the same place, but check in, choose area, and check out is at the East gate. If you already have the safety briefing and are drawn hunter you just get in the line to check in.

I’m in. Haven’t heard the first shot, but we were pretty late getting here through the no show draw.

I don’t see Barrett’s in Scott county. I love the 24 hour drop off into their cooler.

Sorry cowboy guns is the term that the guys at big oaks used at the safety briefing.

Hpr not allowed on big oaks. Cowboy guns, shotguns, and smoke poles are the extent of things that go bang.
