I got all my gear ready to go. Alarm set for 3:00am so I have time for my bible reading and making breakfast. I have all my game processing equipment out in the shop and the garden hose stretched out there so I don't have to mess with it in the morning. Mainly so I don't wake my wife up in the event I do connect early tomorrow morning. I cannot wait to get out there in the morning! I too have all my gear ready and the truck packed up! I will also be up at 3am to get in for the no show draw at Kingsbury at 4:30am. I don't know how cold it will be in Jasper Co. So I hope you are ready! Best of luck to you and everyone else getting out for opening day! According to WGN, it'll be 32° at 5am. I plan on being in my blind and ready to go by then. Definitely layering up! Good luck to you!

Once I let my call set inside for a good 36 hours, it is right as rain. Maybe there was some moisture or something on the glass surface or strikers. I'm not really sure. But, what I am sure of, is that it's right back to making some of the sweetest yelps, clucks and purrs anyone could ask for from a pot call.
I'm not going to lie, a part of me had already settled with the idea that it was rurnt and I was just going to have to buy another one (You can probably hear my arm being twisted wherever you're at🤣) And if I'm being honest, I probably still will! Lol!

Congratulations! Great start!
Also, @bucksandclays, you appear as "Reagan" on my Tapatalk app for some reason. Therefore, I was a little confused by your team#3 post at first. Lol!
Congratulations again!

A sure way to get gone is to do something that costs your employer a lot of money. He definitely stepped in it. Lol

End of the day, it's hard to take much stock into anything you hear on the news, regardless of the network. They all seem to have their own agendas and will spin everything to fit their own narrative.

Tucker just went too far and became a liability. Liability or was getting too close to the truth of a lot of matters? I'm sure the far left was sweating with all the digging he was doing.

Things have definitely greened up in Jasper County. I'll mostly be hunting field edge opening morning behind my house. If I don't succeed early, then I'll move to my permission farm around 10 and chase some toms that have hopefully left their hens.

I usually bring mine inside after each season. I'll try freshen up the strikers tomorrow as well as the glass top. Hopefully that's all it'll need.

Dummy me forgot and left my pot call in my turkey vest last year. My vest has sat in my shop in various temps and moisture levels. Not surprising, I got it out before I sprayed my vest and everything else with permethrin.
The call sounds dead, if that even makes sense. I have three different strikers and couldn't hardly get a note from using any of them.
My hopes are that I just needed to bring it into a better climate controlled environment and maybe it'll self regulate.
It's one of Andy Kaiser's calls and I have used it since 2013 and called in many birds with it for me and others. I truly believe that there is no finer pot calls on the market. I am definitely regretting my lapse in judgement!

I'm considering a new pair of hearing protection for my turkey hunting. I have some electronic muffs now that I use for both shooting for sport and turkeys. They were cheap and I didn't really expect much. However, the issue I have with them is that although I can hear turkeys with them on, I cannot decipher their direction or location. Therefore, I don't even turn them on while turkey hunting. Same thing with people talking. They work well for the noise cancelation. However, I wouldn't mind getting a better pair, muffs or ear buds, that don't distort direction so much.
Any suggestions or pros and cons about certain brands, makes or models?

Congratulations to you both! I hope you find what you're looking for here in the Hoosier State! Good luck selling that Montana house! Strange how things work out it seems, but we live under the belief that wherever we are, we are not there by chance, and things happen the way they do because that's the way they are supposed to happen. When we set foot in that house we both felt that's where we were suppose to be. Now, things may work out differently, I don't know, but we can only point forward and see where the trail leads. We envisioned this place as a two family house, plus other things. It now appears our daughter and grandkids may be headed back to California for awhile. Our son in law works for the California Highway Patrol, and still has a few years to go before retirement, and the back and forth is wearing thin. Then, last night my wife's mom, who has lived with us for the last couple years, is indicating if we go she may stay in Montana with my wife's brother and family. My wife and I talked last night, and our resolve has not altered, so regardless of who stays, and who goes, we will move forward until we're knocked off the path. We have both felt for awhile, that whatever we were supposed to accomplish in Montana has been done, and it's time to move on. Now, we both feel this is what we are supposed to do. We'll see. People are weird bunch. When we left California people said we were crazy. Hey, the weather is great, right? Many folks, including some we thought were friends, became somewhat hostile because we were "running", and wouldn't stay to fight. Not sure what were supposed to fight, because the "war" for California was lost a long time ago. That battle is over. I attributed that to the fact that we were moving on, and whether through necessity, or choice, they were not, and they simply resented the situation. My wife's brother, and wife, who now live in the same area we do, think we're nuts. Evidently my wife's mom now thinks we're nuts. Heck, maybe we are, but we're never going to know what's over the horizon unless we go look. I've always walked up the steepest hill. My line of thought says that if you journey up the hill, and things don't work out, it's easy to get back down to the road and start over. My first boss was a marine corp drill instructor, and like he always said: no guts, no glory. Foreword, it's the only way to travel. Sorry that there seems to be some opposition in you and your wife's endeavor. But, at the end of the day, it is YOU and YOUR WIFE'S endeavor. No one else's. You both have been extremely generous by looking for homes to accommodate all. I too am in law enforcement. I understand his desire to stay on until he reaches his full retirement. If it's anything like mine, although I do get vested after 10 years, I do not get my full pension here unless I stay 20 years. That being said, if he lead you to believe that he was willing to walk away early and backed out, then that's a different story. As for sticking out in California just because your friends are, kudos to you for not following the crowd. Sometimes it is easier and more comfortable to follow down the beaten down path but, other times you must blaze your own path so that others can follow you. And perhaps things will change and your other family members may do just that, follow the path that you put out before them. Good luck with everything!
