Dummy me forgot and left my pot call in my turkey vest last year. My vest has sat in my shop in various temps and moisture levels. Not surprising, I got it out before I sprayed my vest and everything else with permethrin.
The call sounds dead, if that even makes sense. I have three different strikers and couldn't hardly get a note from using any of them.
My hopes are that I just needed to bring it into a better climate controlled environment and maybe it'll self regulate.
It's one of Andy Kaiser's calls and I have used it since 2013 and called in many birds with it for me and others. I truly believe that there is no finer pot calls on the market. I am definitely regretting my lapse in judgement!

I always leave my pot calls in my vest which I leave in the upstairs of the barn where it gets super hot in the summer and cool in the winter. No climate control whatsoever. Used them yesterday while hunting with my son and they were all fine. I have 4 different ones in there. Been doing it that way for years and never had any issues.

Usually it’s the striker end that needs cleaned.

I leave mine (a couple slates and 1 aluminum) in the garage in a tote. I'm sure there are some temperature and humidity swings in there. No problems.
You might text Andy and ask him his opinion.

I usually bring mine inside after each season. I'll try freshen up the strikers tomorrow as well as the glass top. Hopefully that's all it'll need.

Once I let my call set inside for a good 36 hours, it is right as rain. Maybe there was some moisture or something on the glass surface or strikers. I'm not really sure. But, what I am sure of, is that it's right back to making some of the sweetest yelps, clucks and purrs anyone could ask for from a pot call.
I'm not going to lie, a part of me had already settled with the idea that it was rurnt and I was just going to have to buy another one (You can probably hear my arm being twisted wherever you're at🤣) And if I'm being honest, I probably still will! Lol!

Usually I open my slider by the kitchen table listening for birds had one going off like a mad man this morning right when light started to break. Unfortunately I had to go to work so I never got to see him now I’m sitting in my truck at a customers new home waiting on them to show up big woods behind it but not heard or seen anything
I swear I do a ton of looking spotting watching sitting in my truck waiting on people to show up never new we had so many different time zones
