But anyone with a tent or camper can park in my yard or drive way I will even provide power breakfast and a warm shower. If there isn't many who are going to stay I have an open couch and two recliner and floor space for inflatable beds.

I'll check in at Terre Haute and see what they have. That will knock almost 2 hours out of a 2 1/2 hour drive.

I have a message in to Royal Flush on the state of the fields. We need to verify that Oct 10th is still a viable date. As soon as I hear back, I'll post up information here.

Update: I talked with Shawn today and he was in the field so he wasn't able to access the calendar. He will get back to me to verify but he was pretty sure October 10th for morning hunts is a go. I should have an answer within the next few days. I will keep y'all posted here.

OK. I just checked. At this point, the hunt is a go for the morning of October 10th! Here are some notes and questions for feedback:
1. Keep in mind that weather will play a factor in determining whether the hunt goes on. If it is storming crazy or something similar, the hunt will not happen. This will be important for those that are booking motels. If it is hot, the hunt will go but will be a bit tough on the dogs, especially if there is no wind. Some mist or light drizzle is no problem. That would actually work well for the dogs with a small breeze.
2. I can't yet guarantee that we will have pheasants this early. It seems it is a bit early according to the bird suppliers for pheasant. I'm sure many are expecting pheasants so let me know your thoughts here.
3. The field cover for early October is tough and thick. This can make for a tough hunt. Meaning, we may only bag 60-70% of the birds put out.
4. Let's have some discussion here as to who would commit to the hunt and then I will get an idea on the bird package. Just give some feedback here as to your best guess as to % chance you will make it (ie. I think there is a 70% chance I will be there).
5. I would suggest that cost per man on a hunt like this will be $125 to $150 per man. It might be a bit less if pheasants are limited but I'm being realistic here.
***So, that said, please don't take my comments and questions negatively. I'm just being forthright! Now I will also say, this should be a blast and a great time indeed! There's not much in life that gets my juices flowin' like the hoopla of a great bird hunt with old and new friends!!! I can tell you for sure, as any of you with dogs already knows, the pups are cranked up and ready to roll. They can seriously tell the season is on with the cool mornings and change in weather pattern! For those that have never been on a bird hunt it is somewhat different than other hunts. You will find that we walk, talk, shout, laugh, high-five and rip each other quite a bit. Photo ops abound! Let's read your thoughts and input here.

Question first: If this is a little early, what is a good time to go?
The only thing that could possibly stop me (outside a hospital visit) is that my wife is having her first colonoscopy Thurs or Fri that week. Should be a piece of cake, but she is 62 and has never had one. I act like I'm 72 and she acts like she is 40.
Once there, of course I will have a little trouble walking in tall growth, but I'll make a good effort. I don't have to have pheasants; I've never shot a bird in flight, so will be thrilled with any. I'll say I shot a pheasant anyway.
I'm 80%

Will there be Quail and Chukar ?? I understand the rain issue and the heat been there and done that and I did good snow shower and from my experience from those hunts they were not fun . I even did a hunt after a Ice storm back in 2000 , out of 10 pheasants we shot only 4 the rest ran and stayed on the ground . I've done heavy cover in the past and it was about the same time of this hunt and the 3 dogs worked their tail off and a lot of stopping so the Dogs and the guide and us hunters could drink a lot of water . I'm willing to do the hunt if we have enough Hunters and I'M UNDERSTANDING if we wait for a later date .

This trip sounds pretty fun if the weather cooperates for you guys. Never hunted quail on purpose before, usually scare them up by accident when rabbit hunting. Then just about have to clean your shorts after that. Chucker? isn't that the guy that throws the clay's for ya? Haven't hunted them either, seen a couple dozen in Wyoming in 2013 hunting antelopes. They make some weird sounds.
