I never hunted quail before and since we are hunting pheasant , quail and chukar what shot shells should be used ? I'd recommend 7-1/2's in 12 gauge. We don't allow anything over #6's and she'll length greater tha 2-3/4's. With 20 gauge or 16 gauge the same applies. Can you select a pheasant only option or is it going to be combo hunt only?

I went to their web page and there are several packages , what I was kinda thinking since there will be 3 hunters to a field each hunter picks a package

mossberg, I think it is a package per field if I recall correctly from the last time out. You pick the number of each type of bird you want released and pay accordingly. In our case, we split the cost of the "field of birds" between everyone on that field.
HCG, please comment on this when you have time to.

I sent my 28" Remington 870 fixed modified choke barrel off to Michael Orlen to shorten by 2 1/4" and thread it for RemChokes..
Being an 870 fan I've got a half dozen RemChokes.
There might be a concern on outter diameter and might have to go with TruTubes, but I don't think so. Measuring OD of the muzzle shows it will work BUT that was with a tape measure...

I may have to use my duck gun, but it has a 30" barrel. I would have liked a shorter barrel for this hunt.

However, someone might have to carry my shoulder back to the car for me. LOL I think I have some different chokes for it. I'll dust it off and oil it up.

When the date is set in Stone by Royal Flush can we start sending them a payment with the date that the hunt is on ? We don't need to send a payment. Once I get confirmation on the date, we can all pay the day of the hunt. Royal Flush does take credit card payments.

HuntMeister is correct. Each field with have a specific package. dbd870...a party could choose to be all pheasant. That would apply to that field whether it was 1,2, or 3 guns. I'm sure you know this...that field could get expensive depending on how many pheasant. Also, pheasants on a preserve hunt like this is a mix of roosters and hens, typically half and half!

I left Shawn a messsage on the date and will hear from him sometime next week on confirmation. The preserve is currently closed and I talked with another guide today that informed me that he is out until next week.

I thought about a new scatter gun but after dropping those big bucks on that Hi-point handgun I thought is better not. Michael Orlen comes highly recommended and will do the whole job for $70.. I can't beat that..

I've seen upland guns with 22" barrel. Is this what one wants for upland hunting?

I've seen upland guns with 22" barrel. Is this what one wants for upland hunting? I've got a 18 1/2" "cut barrel" for my 870 that is open bore for home defense. If I used that for birds I'd probably kill the whole flock with one shot..
