Jon , I believe the 10 gauge was mainly used for high flying geese . But the 12 gauge now has the 3 and 3.5 inch shells for those same birds . Yes sir, I would call it a goose gun. We'll get these birds before they're very far away... well, we're supposed to. When I bought my Beretta A400 30", I had a spot where geese would fly over to the waste dump. Then I started thinking about the waste dump + geese, and didn't go.

I want to see what it will do. I need something to spread a wide pattern at 30ft, or I have a great chance of missing it. I'll be thrilled if I get one bird. I'll be so proud. I have to be the worst shot on here.

Idk Jon 18.5 with a full choke might reach out and touch a bird at 30ft Wouldn't be very fun to shoulder though probably

Unfortunately, Royal Flush is a bit too far for me to travel. If you guys need a place due to the weather, you might look at Hillside located in Roanoke, Indiana. I have used them a few times. Good hunts, professional skeet range, and an amazing gun shop.

Does the lodge sell and serve food ? If not is there a way we could do a pot luck after the hunt ?

Does the lodge sell and serve food ? If not is there a way we could do a pot luck after the hunt ? It could be a bit tough to do a pot luck at the lodge. I'll have to think that through a little bit. Generally, we usually head to Rick's Smokehouse in Terre Haute.

My wife makes some chicken strips wrapped in bacon and puts something on them that... Oh, yum yum. I'd like to try another bird this way. I can ask her. I think it's simple and goooooooood!

Bird hunting videos are one of my favorites, but I like most all hunting videos.
Pictures are always fun too.

HCG , Do you have any more pictures from Royal Flush hunt club that you can post ? I'll add a few here and maybe a few more from another drive when I get to it. I don't have any pics of the "lodge." It is basically a barn with sitting room and cleaning kitchen. Here are a few pics: Gunners at the ready on a misty morning. Duke (shown) backing Rock (not shown) in this still shot: Me taking some time to admire and explain the beauty of a rooster pheasant (I guess it's just the Biology major in me) to this young man as he takes his first ringneck!

Thank you HCG , My first hunting experience was wild pheasants at my Uncles farm in Illinois . Jon I need to FIND my charger for my video camera , it's an older model that I bought from a pawn shop . Maybe I'll try and order more batteries for it .

HCG , Is that pheasant still alive in the picture ( the one that your talking to the young dude about pheasants ) Good eye! Yes, but barley alive. Many times, a gunner will "wing" or "drop a leg" on a pheasant. I quickly put this one out of misery shortly after the pic.
