Let's just squash the bill and leave everything else as it is.

If the CO's are not even sure of the laws sometimes without consulting the book, then it's way more complicated than it should be IMO. Just hope the deer regs never get as bad as the waterfowl regs. IIRC, a person had to have FIVE different licenses on his person to hunt the Summit goose reduction hunt. That's ridiculous.

I agree with you Hux. I always tend towards the KISS approach. We start adding this and that and qualifiers do nothing but add to the confusion. I'd be suprised if it changed much of anything as far as harvest goes anyways. You can bet the guys filling the tags now will still be the guys filling the tags then.
Goose hunting is totally different. It's much better then deer hunting that is why all the extra hoops. That and the federal govt claims to control the waterfowl hunting!!!

Here is the form reply I received today from my State Senator concerning HB 1585. The worst part is everyone he replied to was listed on my email address. Eight people. We’re going to have to do better than this. Marlin Stutzman is on the committee that will let this live or die.
"Thank your for emailing me in regards to HB 1585. I appreciate your thoughts and the time you took to share them with me." "This bill is not only complicated, but controversial. As of today, I do not have an opinion. I plan on examining this bill closely in order to make a better informed decision. With a bill as complicated as this, many things play a part in my decision making, including how the bill is written and the language that is used. I assure you that I will take all of these factors into account before making a decision."
"Again, thank you for your email. If I can be of any further assistance, please let me know."
Sincerely, Marlin Stutzman State Senator

I got an email from the Mishler staff today updating it as well...
Dear Gary,
Today HB 1585 was heard by the Committee on Natural Resources. The bill was amended to remove all references to hunting. However, the bill is being held for further study on the issue. This bill will not be heard by the full Senate. However, I will keep your thoughts in mind as the legislative session continues.
Thank you for your email. If you need further assistance, please contact me.
Ryan Mishler State Senator

I just heard that counties touching the Indiana Toll Road can kill up to 8 antlerless deer.......
Does this have anything to do with this legislation?

I doubt it, as the bill never passed... probably just a bump up on the antlerless limits for those counties...
