Jack, Could you please post your credentials so that people that read your posts don't just blow them off as "internet propaganda"? TIA I'm not sure I have any more credentials than anyone else on this site. I graduated from Purdue a very long time ago with a degree in Chemistry and spent the majority of my career in environmental chemistry with nuclear chemistry as my main area of expertise. I worked for the INDOT, ISBH, IDEM and Heritage Environmental retiring in 2003. I have hunted and fished in Indiana for well over 50 years. I am a member of so many groups I hesitate to list them all. Currently I am Vice-chairman of the Indiana State Council of Pheasants Forever and Co-chair of the Fish & Wildlife Action Committee that meets every 3 months to discuss current laws and regulations pertaining to IDNR. I am also on the the steering committee for INCA (Indiana Conservation Alliance) which meets monthly. I spend a couple of days a week downtown at the legislature watching for legislation I think is important. I also attend most of the NRC meetings and many of the Advisory Council meetings. I have been asked to join any number of boards and steering committees but decline as I am doing way too much already. Do I do more than the next guy? Probably. Does it bother me? No. Do I agree with every opinion fron DNR? No, but they are right more than they are wrong which puts them a notch above our legislature. Me and the Guv hanging out at the signing of the apprentice hunting license bill I helped shepard through the last session. I'm the good looking one on the left of the table. Jack

Let's see...you are on the right hand side of Mitch...so does that make you Mitch's right hand man? J/K I think I speak for everyone here on this case. We ALL certainly appreciate all that you do and keeping us informed in what is going on. A lot of us are far removed from Indianapolis and can't really participate even if we wanted to. A BIG thanks to you, sir. WW

Impressive credentials. Your committment to all these groups speaks for itself. I am sure that you know the reasoning behind all of this and whether or not it is good for Sportsmen of Indiana. There are those of us out here that appreciate all that you are doing. Keep up the good work of informing us on these issues.

I read a reply that someone got back from his representative today (btw it will be read tomorrow) and she is sure that it will pass since there is little opposition. She did however suggest to rally people to contact their state senator to get this thing killed.

As I read it the bill in quesion has passed the House 79-13 today. It now goes to the Senate where it has some heavy hitters sponsoring it. Suggest Gundude talk to Sen. Steele and whoever is in Nugent's and Young's areas get on the phone. Should go to Senate Natural Resources or INSURANCE Committee. Gotta kill this in committee (looks like Nugent and Steele are on the Senate Insurance Committee).
Nugent - Lawrenceburg Steele - Bedford R. Young - Milltown Lewis - Charlestown

I'm like several others here, the only bad thing I see about the bill is the fact it takes the management out of the hands of the DNR but if we wait for the DNR do make licensing cheaper and lengthen the gun season it will never happen and our sport will all but die because the only people hunting will be people with lifetime licenses as they will be the only ones that can afford it.
Dang that was one heckuva run on sentence but it's late, I'm extremely tired and I ain't gonna fix it sorry lol.

All bills with 3 digits (SB545) are senate bills. All bills with 4 digits (HB1001) are house bills. Once assigned those designations stay until passed or defeated. By the way SB545 is the Fish & Wildlife technical corrections bill and HB1001 is the Budget bill for the state.
