With myself having more hunting stuff than most hunting stores have. All I really want is to have some more hunts with my Dad like we did Saturday. We use to hunt together all the time. Then I had drivers licensed and for the last 30 years or so. I went to one spot, he to another. Saturday we headed out together to some public ground together. I really enjoyed it. It's not about the gadgets, the amount of game taken, it's the memories.

Anybody remember the old wool electra socks that used two D batteries that went in a pouch at the top of the socks and had wires running through the bottoms that were available 30 years or more ago. I bought several pairs and never had any of them work longer than 10 minutes and they never got very hot when they did. They always fell down to you ankles because of the two heavy batteries hanging on them. They are probably rare collectors items now days and hard to find. All mine went in the trash. Been there done that. Lol

I hunt with a 44 mag in a Blackhawk. And a 308 in a T.C. Encore. The Blackhawk is a little more handy out of my climber because the Encore about has to have a solid rest. Now off a rest like my tower stand that I built just for that reason. It's a killer.

Live at the truck. Only one signed in this morning on my public ground. Bad thing, it's raining fairly hard. Waiting it out in truck a little longer. Then in to woods or a mad dash back to my place and a fully enclosed tower. What to do.

Went with my Dad tonight to a different spot than this morning. Found two fresh scrapes. Don't not a single deer in either set today.

I ship to nafa. There is a spot on there for license number. It isn't needed but I put it just in case. I didn't know that. I have never shipped fur, only sold local.

I am almost positive u need a trapping license unless it is your own property. All fur bearers are covered under one license. U need to have a number when selling furs to buyers. If it's not your personal property you need a license. As for a number to sell furs. Idk about that. I have never been asked for a number in the 35 years or so that I have been doing it. Maybe some fur buyers ask, idk about all of them.

I'm a very lucky man. My wife doesn't say anything about my 2 expensive hobbies. She tells all the family and friends that there is really only to seasons a year. Not 4, there's hunting season, and sprint car racing season. With a lot of horse riding mixed in along the way with his daughter. All she asked is once a year take I take her down around Clarksville for a night, dinner and 2 days Christmas shopping. So boys the last weekend of Muzzle Loader season I'm Christmas shopping. And there's a Bass Pro right there. Lol

My 130" minimum has probably shifted to a 80 lb minimum today. Hey, keep your head up. And hunt. Mathematically you haven't lowered the bar any. 130", 180 pound first of the season. Season is half over. So 180÷2=90 and there good eating. Lol

I'm set up on the Owen side of the Clay/Owen line this morning. Had a squadron on 4 ducks come over, and a ton of squirrels are active. But no venison so far.

Like I said I'm color blind. So take it for what it's worth. But I will say very seldom I'm fooled by camo. The best in the business is a cattail brushed in duck blind. Hard to beat natural. A very close second is a well made ghillie suit. Simple because it Doesn't have a human shape. I hope someday they (medical scientist) can correct color blind with some simple procedure. I know there are glasses and are only temporary. Maybe someday the 4.5% color blind will be able to see all the colors. PS: just like I have Hernia of the throat and it could rupture anytime. We just have to deal with it. Thanks for sharing. Oh its really not that big of a deal to me. Other than fireworks and looking at fall leaves with the wife is really boring. Only inconvenience is always needing a tracker on deer and the occasional very bright sunny days when you kinda run a few stop lights and get the big horn blow and the International your number 1 sign.

I've been fooled over the years with camo. This year I hunted in work professional cloths and blue jeans with my black sweatshirt and had the best close encounters ever. When I first hunted back in the early 80's the market for camo was smaller or I was poorer. My working brown construction cloths worked better than camo. After this year, I am more and more a non camo hunter. Like I said I'm color blind. So take it for what it's worth. But I will say very seldom I'm fooled by camo. Well I will tell you from a prospective of a color blind guy. If deer are also color blind. And how do we really know for sure. The camo manufacturers have been ripping hunters off for years. Please elaborate I'd like to know exactly how camo patterns look to someone or something that is color blind. Idk, it's hard to explain. It's like I tell my wife about fireworks. I can have just as much fun with a cigarette lighter and a flashing lol. I see shades, very bright, and very dull. So camo doesn't blend into the back ground to me. You look like a brighter or dull glob by a bush, or tree. I see shapes very well. A man standing really stands out. The horizontal line of a deer back stands out. Guess it's hard for both of us to explain what the other can and can not see. I will say almost all camo looks brighter to me than anything in the woods.

Yes, you can have a muzzleloader tag. And it's good for either sex. Technically couldn't he go buy another bundle license as well? Just using Jons situation where hes used his allotted 3 bundle deer, if one chose to? Yes he could buy another bundle. I was only thinking muzzleloader tag.

Like was stated above, you can get a muzzle loader license. If you have not purchased a Military/Refuge license to use at Muskcatatuk, you can use the statewide muzzle loader license. If you don't fill it on the refuge, it is still good the rest of the season. Since you haven't taken antlers yet this year it's good for either sex. Thanks! I didn't know that I could have a muzzleloader and bundle. With three does, I can still buy a muzzleloader license? Yes, you can have a muzzleloader tag. And it's good for either sex.

Well what can I say if it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all. I took my vacation time November 4 - 14 this year. From some of TNT previous posts you may have been able to tell that I was having a rough go due to standing corn and the weather kinda sucked. I made the decision mid week to hang a stand in a 40 acre chunk of woods that has been a dedicated sanctuary for 3 years (I've literally not stepped foot in it during that time) but the farmer cut a row right next to it. Entry would be a breeze as it's only 50 yards off of the road and extends further into the farm and is at most 80 yards wide. Anyhow let's just say I found a good spot as the action picked up. My downfall is that my successes at chasing big bucks has made me a little picky at this stage. On the Friday before gun season I was at the end of an all day sit when I got my shot at a bruiser. It was a heart shot for sure and he bolted from the way he came. This is the bad luck part.... a freaking truck hit the deer as it apparently made its furious death run. I "heard" it all go down so I made my way to the roadway in a hurry. Priority one was is everyone ok... they were. Priority two getting my deer... I was unsuccessful. The guy had an older truck so after asking if I could have the deer and showing him that I had in fact shot it I offered to fix the damage followed by me attempting to buy the truck outright. I called Winamac fish and wildlife main office as they are close by and I know their is usually DNR in the area to see if I had any options. Nope I didn't.... Goodbye deer So I've packed up my toys since then and had to take a break for a bit. I'm going to head out for muzzleloader I guess and see what happens. Apologies for the long story but I've been told I just need to smile about it.... I'm trying to smile 👍 I had something close to this happen several years ago. I had been hunting a very nice buck in bow season. Was close several times but no luck. On the last morning of archery season he came down a power line. Stopped 60 yards or so way. Then broke out of the power line and made a mad dash across a corn field to a small strip of woods next to highway. A few minutes later I hear a car hard on brakes and a loud bang. Sick at my stomach I get down and make the walk. When I walked up to my truck and the road. There 50 yards from my truck was a buck of my lifetime. Then it gets good. The lady goes nuts on me, screaming it's my fault and I destroyed her car, and the buck wouldn't have been running if I hadn't been chasing it. This woman was off the dial. So just then a officer pulls up. She goes nuts on him also that it was my fault and I had to pay for her car. Well I asked officer later on if I could have deer and he asked her first. Well answer was NO. Found out later from a friend of a friend that the lady found out that the rack was worth a little cash and sold it.
