When it comes to field hunting geese late in the year. You CANNOT have to many decoys. We have been known to put out truck loads. 2 or 3 truck loads.

Nicely done. One of these days I'm going to waterfowl hunt, but I'm afraid what will happen once I do go. You mean? Waders, boat, blind, calls, dog, different guns, different chokes, duck decoys, goose decoys, water decoys, field decoys, other than that you probably have all you need. Lol Oh and a few more decoys.

GROUSE - I'm often asked this question and the answer is that I was born a rabbit hunter but grew into a grouse hunter. There's a lot to be said for pheasant hunting but grouse will always be my favorite. The work the state is doing in our forests right now will help but the vast majority of private lands are not being managed properly and don't get me started on the Hoosier National Forest. We may see the grouse come back (a group of grouse was spotted this year in the Hoosier Hardwood Experiment) but we won't hunt them again in my life in Indiana. The plans are already set up for reintroduction of birds if we can get some decent habitat in about 10-15 years. I had a few grouse on my property several years ago. But now there gone. I think the coyotes took care of them.

I'm starting to rethink mine now. Maybe anything with glowing red eyes. Dennis, if you have never been waterfowl hunting, I believe a few of us on here could change your mind pretty quick. To me, you are too much of a social person to not enjoy some quality time in a blind. I would second that.

Elk, nothing like the silence being broken by a screaming bull while being deep in the mountains on a horse.

I'm sorry Woody, when I posted this and made it sound a little like you had something to do with it. I knew all alone you wasn't behind it buddy. Now if you could get Team 16 a few extra points before we start our "do over season" we would back you for. The team captain next year. Woody, "Making Indiana Great Again". SHOW ME THE MONEY!!!!! Come on Woody, everyone knows it's not about the money. It's the Title. Lol

After looking at the scores in the deer contest I see our team. Team 16, is down 1 point at this time. I cannot see anyway how this could be. So unless we pick up another deer in late season we will request a investigation into this. We will even talk a bottom team into calling for a recount for us. That way it doesn't look bad on us. With a little research I think it's even possible that there has been some under the table dealings between Team 3 and Russia. Also at this time we do not know to what extent Woody has in this unjust system either. Please keep watching this post and ALL local news for breaking news. Lol Its cold today. Might as well have a little fun. 6 points. Antiwheeze took a doe last week, so team 3 is at 87. This cannot be. Numbers only lie if your not winning. With a recount, help from Putin and some other stuff. This is a small margin. Lol

Looks like someone didn't have a broad head on. If that was the case it would have still hit the lungs and she would have bleed out.

I agree deerhunter23. Any day that an outdoors man can get out and slip into the great outdoors is truly a blessing. I talked to an older feller yesterday and he asked me if I've dropped anything. It kinda aggravated me a little and I said heck now, and it's disturbing me. He told me that I wasn't seeing the big picture. He said it shouldn't matter if you shoot, trap, or catch anything, it's just the idea of being able to do it. He said there are a lot of folks in this world that would give anything to be able to do what we do. He said either it be a disability or health reasons, there are folks in the world that aren't so fortunate like us. My "treestand prayer" I always praise God for allowing me to do what I am doing. I thank him for the physical, mental and financial ability to hunt.Like you said there are many that would love to do what we are doing but cant for various reason. It is truly a blessing to a be able to do what we are doing, I agree with you both on this. It wasn't a hunting deal but it was a racing evening. I was at Putnamville and was having a little driver fit about something that probably didn't amount to anything. I know how drivers are. Well a good friend of mine came over and tore into me. He said look at him. After 2 broken necks he would love to be able to just "get back into a sprint car". Then he spun me around and said look across that track. There's little kids, young guys and old men that are absolutely jealous of you. They would love to be able to "live the dream" just one night. He told me to suck it up, but a smile on my face and be thankful for what I have and able to do. It's been several years since that night. And I more thankful now than I have ever been. For my racing, hunting, horses, and being able to be a free man in a free country that with good health we are able to enjoy the things we want to do.

Horn: where you seeing more ducks than usual because we're froze up except for the ditches. We were on a 40 acre old mine pit. That's 85 feet deep off the shovel wall. So we had no ice.

Horn: where you seeing more ducks than usual because we're froze up except for the ditches. We were seeing several ducks. Think there some new birds coming down. And I couldn't tell you how many geese. A unbelievable amount. Unfortunately they all was drifting off and setting in a field one county road over.
