Hunter Orange: if I was asked to vote on it I'd say (in perfect grammatical English) : I like the idea of wearing orange during firearms season, November 12-27th. I agree it is a good idea for visibility and safety. I would vote to allow private land owners and those hunting on private lands to wear hunter orange in the tree stand at their discretion. I believe we are intelligent human beings, at least most of the time, and I believe our generous state should allow its citizens to apply said intelligence and be less restrictive in regards to the rights of personal property owners. So I'd vote to allow the removal of hunter orange for a hunter on private property once in their hunting stand or blind. I feel strongly that while laws are in place to protect the people, in certain instances such as this there seems to be a governmental "over-reach" and I fail to understand an official coming to my property to give me a fine for such an offense as not wearing hunter orange in my stand. Can I get an Amen? 🙌

I apologize, I mis-spoke, a faster arrow would have flatter trajectory you're right. I'm not familiar with spine indexing is that for the newer carbon bolts? To make sure what you're shooting all has the same spine? And I use 125 grain broadheads because for some amazing reason on a 22" aluminum bolt I get the sweetest most true shot. They're so reliably accurate I'm frankly quite in love with the setup. For years now manufacturers have been trying to cut cost and increase speed with the bows, hence the usage of carbon. It's cheap and light. The most expensive bolts you can buy today are a mix of carbon and aluminum. But I have a hard time paying that much for 1 bolt. Aluminum is tried and true and works beautifully. So do the muzzy style fixed broadheads, there's nothing to malfunction if you're aim was true. Final thought: More weight= heavier projectile= more power + slower shot= greater accuracy. That's my theory. And it's a good one

I carry a target in my truck. I've used the bolts with metal tip for $15 but have also busted the metal heads on them, I started just shooting into the ground and busted a costly broadhead, so I switched to shooting into the ground with a field tip till I ruined a bolt when it shattered, so now I shoot into my truck target with a field tip bolt. Perfect solution!

I currently use the cheap carbon express arrows from Walmart. $5.50 each. I consider myself a crossbow marksman, I Bulls-eye everything(or try to anyways). I've noticed aluminum bolts, Easton xx75's shoot more accurately than any bolt I've ever used. I must shoot at different targets with those because I've many times put a bolt on target and split the bolt with the next one shot. (Don't do that, it gets expensive) the aluminum is heavier therefore you get a slower shot therefore it flies flatter improving your trajectory, also they will cut through the wind better and have greater impact through target, I send many xx75's all the way through my crossbow targets. On the other hand when I shoot carbons they shoot well enough. They stray at times an inch or 2 which is irritating, but accurate enough I suppose. I would feel VERY confident hunting with either. So far as fps goes, I've in the past obliterated massive bucks using 225lb crossbows at 70+ yards the bolt breaking through ribs destroying both lungs. I currently shoot 340 FPS. Plenty fast! And my 2 cents. Use fixed blade broadheads!!! 125 grain! Again they will fly slower than 100 grain but they will be more accurate and destroy whatever you're shooting at.

I take 1 bolt to the woods, no quiver. And I always make it count.

I use a Barbett quad edge. I love that bow. It's about a quarter of the weight of a quad 400 but basically the same design only modernized, and about the same weight as the Barnett recruit compound. This bow they made the limbs more narrow than the 400 AND lightened the draw to an easy 125lbs as well without compromising speed! I'm Bulls-eye accurate out to 70 yards with this bow. And the most genius invention on these bows is the "risor" it allows me to get perfect sight picture on my scope every time!

If your crossbow has at least 5 crosshairs you can sight your first one at 30 yards then 40, 50, 60, and 70

Here's the reticle pattern I like+ the carbon express has "dots" between the crosshairs for 5yard increments which is awesome!

I've seen the 10-point scopes, and don't like them. I've used a Barnett scope with lighted reticles for a while and don't like it either. The reticles are too close together and the lighted reticles give you light blindness in low light. My personal favorite is the scope they put on the carbon express cx-1. They put a very similar scope on the SportsAuthority bows. I'm currently using a Horton base model 4x30 scope. Trust me the simpler the better! The zoom functions and the scopes that light up take away from your picture quality! What I prefer is a scope with excellent glass that is anti-fog! The Horton gives me that but I myself am in the market for a carbon express basic scope.

My best is a 125 5/8. That's my trophy. I'll always think of him as my buck! Having shot him last year during bow I feel I've gained more respect for the smaller bucks. I wouldn't worry too much about score since I'm not a scoring expert, but unless he looked like a big boy, a really big 8 or 10 I wouldn't take him. Just for the reason that I hunt for venison so that's what does are for, and if I took a smaller buck just to shoot a buck that would be disrespectful to the sport for me

I'm up here in northern Indiana. I was out scouting a bean field one day. Good lord it was big. I walked and walked for what seemed like forever. It got late and I decided it was time to head back. Oh man, which way was the truck?? I could see all the way across the flat bean field but I couldn't see my truck anywhere! I felt myself start to get choked up and felt some warm tears fill my eyes. This was a horrible feeling being lost. I got so discouraged I took off all my clothes and was walking buck naked through this farmers bean field. The crows above were getting the sight of their lives! Haha. Just kidding:) I had to say something stupid lol.
