If it's his property, I would let it walk.
Thought my property, I would leave it open to someone that I allowed on to it.

I hit the mcds and buy 6 breakfast burritos, 2 for breakfast on the drive in and then the rest for the sit. don't for get the hot sauce, that gets me through a whole day hunt. Along with a 20 oz soda and my 2l water hydration pack.
The next ? How far do you hike away from your spot when your belly starts aching.

My grandpa has me hooked on the pudding not that I've had many chances of having some. My Ole lady found some store bought pulp. But did not compare to a very fresh dropped persimmon I tried on my great uncles place in southern indiana, it was like candy, unfortunatley I could only find one under the tree that was edible. Besides the one that my grand pa picked up and ate also.
If I could locate some trees (specifically desired in the public land I hunt) I'd be set.

Well my last purchase from gander mountain... 80% off was actually more % off at register. I paid 16 bucks. Would not be happy paying the 80 dollar msrp... it's a wild design.
Steady eddy is a shooting rest (stick) it is detachable and collapsable (about 20 inches or so) but also can be semi fixed to the crossbow. The collar snaps to a stud mounted on the crossbow, later models are molded on (like mine) using two small balls housed within the collar, the neck of the attachment is a good 4-5 inches of flexible rubber to assist in folding back to the fixed holder. (not very stable) but grip your hand here instead of the foam wrapped hand grip and youll be a little more steady. Eddy. I need to start practicing will give it a shot when I get around to it.

Calls haven't worked as well as it seems for me but scents...
Yes, I believe they do help, but not always. I would believe scents are even better for a smoker, as I. Every year I pull out fresh washed scent free cloths and then spray doe urine on boots and pants and the (I highly not recommended especially if your a sweater with long hikes) hats, in the beginning I would trash bag my clothes and drop in 2-3 doe pee wafers... I have felt that even doe urine will cause deer to stop in tracks and head another direction, but at other times I've had more so the does walk to me.
I quit smoking just before the new year, well I picked up a vape pen.. anyways my taste pallet has improved, my own sense of smell has improved, and I can tell you cigarette smoke STINKS! Now, I shot my first doe I was smoking a cigg. But she was obviously down wind and was transitioning on her daily routine.
But that big buck just might have been upwind and said no way jose.
Anyways even as a non smoker I will no longer wear urine, but I will still utilize the urine scents to try and lure in, after all I'm hunting public and I need all the help I can get.

Well I did not have rattle equipment but...
My very first season of early archery, I was out with my first bow, a hand me down whitetail hunter bear bow my grandpa could no longer draw... I got out to a tree that looked to be a good spot to sit down, at first light I stood up to stretch my legs and decided to try drawing my bow with the extra jacket I had on. Unexpectedly the lower draw weight pulley popped off and fell into the pile of leaves, instead of landing in my bare circle (I drag my feet to sweep leaves away to make less noise when sitting or standing.) Anyways my bow became useless, I decided to sit and observe nature and tried picking around every once in a while for the nut and pulley. Well at the beginning I was very frantic lol. No more than 10 minutes after I had stopped swooshing leaves frantically I heard a twig snap. Then I seen the head gear, I sat still and watched this buck with nose to the ground following the exact trail I had walked, but very very slow pace pausing and smelling the ground, never really looked up at all!. I had used a scent drag. I let him get within 3 feet of me before I decided to stand up. A younger 8 pt. That buck practically turned inside out and was gone. I sat back down, and dug around some more and finally boom I found my pulley and the nut! But my time had ran out, as it was time to for me to leave. A very memorable hunt.
Tips:
scent drags are a plus.
Always tighten down your stuff before going on the actual hunt.

good luck, and if its your first time remember bear are hard to judge. I tell everyone that comes up to bear hunt, if you are looking at a bear guessing on whether or not it's big enough to shoot, it probably isn't. When one steps in and you think "DAMN that's big" start shooting...LOL Will remember this if I ever get the chance to hunt bear!

Bring it on back...
So I've made about 15 trips to Gander Mtn in the last month. As we all know it's going under. Different stores have different sales, mark downs, percentage off etc... I will say now to you all, my fellow hunting buddies, this next month and possibly two months will be the best sales. Even on guns and ammo. Check out your closest store. Keep watch get the gear you want and need for a good price. I bought some too soon as now some of the items are even cheaper but I have top performance warm clothing for my kids when they're big enough to start going! And I still saved fair amounts! I also got me new turkey clothes, vest, and new deer clothes for the warmth of a late season. The guide series clothing and base layers are just as nice check it ALL out!

Now I read it from their state issue guide at one time but I think they consider past the ears to be 15". For those who don't get long enough to stand there with a tape measure. Woder what the penalty is if it's not quite there?

2008 or so they released 20-30 birds in hancock/shelby county. I've seen the flock only twice and from road both times years apart between then and now. Within The last 3 years one time I seen a strutting tom close to 9 between greenfield and shelbyville. In April.
Personally due to No access to private land and no courage to ask someone. I travel to where I've deer hunted 18 years. Across state. I don't mind the drive it's just getting to bed and having to get up to make time for the drive. I think some other properties are actally closer but I like taking the walk down memory lane as I did as a youngster with my uncles and grandpa.

Indiana he would go down. Kentucky has the 15" spread right? Who gets time to measure before they shoot?

They are out there, if your not enjoying the time even if it means coming home empty handed you ought to try harder and start having fun with it. I have two seasons on my belt both tag soup, I've had days without a peep, and I had days a gobbler 30-40 yds away but too much underbrush and hung up on me without me seeing him. I still had fun and enjoyed the spring woods for a change. I still will committ to next year. Will try different tactics and will Pre scout more even drive an hour in another direction if neccessary. Also Hopefully not get over excited and call too much, as it's frustrating when they stop gobbling after they start pursuing your call.
