On the road from 8am-830 seen 5 does. 2 here 1 there 1 there 1 there... Figure it would be productive for anyone out this morning. I seen 1 doe as soon as I walked out the doors on break yesterday at 1pm. Just grazing 20 feet from the building, on leaves, with an entire corn field on the other side of the tree line...

Haha all my food was gone by 10am, I'm blaming it on the heavey crossbow and the walk in. . Beautiful moring in deed, love the temps, glad I had packed my jacket and beanie got cold enough sitting still. Called it quits at 11 only planned half day due to kids and chores, the 2 does never came back through and didn't have anything in tow. The Spot I wanted to go had too many trucks parked, so I went to plan b this morning, over the summer they did logging in plan b as opposed to plan A from last seaon. My trail familiarity was jogged since they were running a bulldozer and semis back there over the summer. Just hope they are done for the year... last year they were logging till gun season.

Just seen a yearling out of range, wind on my side. Momma must be down there with her can't confirm exactly what the other is. Keeping on. Can't be picky if theyre in range and not too small it's going down for the dinner table.
I talked to my uncle yesterday who walks over by ft. Ben. Said he seen two bucks sparring the other morning around dawn. Figure that's some good info to share.

Knife Pen n paper Rope Lighter Headlamp Hand saw (never needed, never know.) Bino Grunt and bleat can Gloves, socks, Rain coat and pants orange ball cap in case toboggan gets hot or vice versa pending weather, also hang it in tree when I had to go look for blood can look back to directly where I shot from easy. Wet wipes (when the leaves are too dry Ziplock bag for trash or waterproofing electronics. Truck keys Food Rangefinder A small stool Fanny pack holds scents and drag, cotton scent hangers, a piece of trail tape I tie up to keep track of wind, And phone. I hunt an hour and a half away from home, I stay all day and stay in the big woods. I Rather have it, than need it! I still have room to pack extra layers out if it gets hot, it's a big back pack.

It seems early harvest compared to the last couple years to me, I've seen more corn coming down then the beans between New Pal and bloomfield.
Anyone passing through Owen and Putnam able to report? Those boys best be taking it down, lol.

Well I'm going early this year, need more chances, lol. Plus I figure on public ground, the early bird gets the worm type thing... there is a group or three that hit the camp ground and hunt two weeks straight, this is normally done between bow and gun season but anything is possible when it comes to the masses... I'll hunt opening morning. I Won't do afternoon as work the next day and I don't want to shoot a deer around dusk, Atleast on a sunday.

Upon watching a youtube video on how it is to be used, it makes more since based on its construction. I now have it attached, and it Still fits my rural king bought soft case.

I think model of shotgun / rifling come into play. I shoot a winchester 1300 with rifled barrel and have found better groups with slower fps through it. I have shot sst, and the Hornady lights but i found winchester BRI sabots and lightfields group better in my gun. Anything Under 1500fps. 2 3/4 inch shells.

Are there public spots for the reduction hunt season? Wish they had a map, all I seen was text listings.
Out here at Wilbur wright today waiting for a range spot to open up...
