I bought my last vehicle on Govdeals. Don’t see a lot of Toyotas on there though. I have browsed that a few times. Did you get it locally or have to travel a bit? Some good stuff on there. I got my truck from the state of Kentucky- had to go down to Frankfort. I’ve bought a few things from IU and a camper shell from Indy as well.

Looks really clean to me, but I probably wouldn’t pay more than half their asking price with that mileage.

I bet somebody puts a windshield and new tire on it and drives it that way.

They actually showed that on the local tampa news down here. People are probably thinking where the heck is portage indiana I always think of the area being super busy like Chicago. How that truck ran off the road and never seen for 6 days is a mystery to me. Have you ever been on 94 when it wasn't bumper to bumper? I was just talking to a co-worker about it this morning, and she actually drove across that creek on 94 over the weekend. He would have been down there at the time.

Some nice looking stuff on there.
It looks like 10% Buyers fee, 2% online bidding fee, 3% credit card fee, Indiana sales tax. So for an online bidder, purchase price + 22%. I wonder if prices will reflect that.

youtu.be/XikqDBuDaec?si=swWtNLoFzZ2SYDJdThe first couple minutes of the video is this kid putting a treestand nearly 60’ in a tree, no harness. At 5:30, he pulls the crossbow up, cocked and loaded, pointed right at him. No wonder people have accidents..

I’m probably all done hunting for the year. Told the kids they could walk their dogs or metal-detect or whatever on the property now.
I’ve got plenty of work that needs done, my primary task will be expanding the food plot area again this year.

Thanks for the input fellas! I ended up buying the battery from Costco. Wal-Mart did not have mine in stock. And Rural King was the exact same price as Costco, matching specifications. The Costco battery was an H6 (48) AGM, 36 month for $169.99. I like patronizing Rural King but Ma wanted the 2% kick back from Costco! I just installed the battery and the ole Suburban fired right up. How many miles does that thing have on it? Seems like I remember you posting some really high number quite a while back.

So if it has not passed to humans despite several areas having positive results...it is almost given that some folks have eaten infected deer. Are they testing 100% of the deer when it is found? Not sure what I would do but feels like a psychological impact more than physical. A very very small % are tested in established CWD areas. I have read of (and hunted in) areas of Wyoming and Colorado where it’s been estimated at 30% or more prevalence. By those odds, I have probably eaten a CWD positive animal or two. I just think of the thousands of CWD deer eaten every year by people, bears, wolves, coyotes, etc. and it has not jumped the species barrier yet that we know of. People are a lot more likely to die of food poisoning from the slice of lettuce they put on their deer burger than from contracting CWD.

I would bet any tickets issued were in Monroe County, in the Deam Wilderness. There is a several-mile stretch that is posted no parking, because the wilderness boundary comes right up to the edge of the road.

They are monitoring for it in Indiana. I agree, just a matter of time before it is found. At least in Kentucky the can’t just walk across to Indiana… they have to swim or ride in a horse trailer! I bet plenty do swim. A few years ago I saw a deer swimming the Wabash from Indiana toward Illinois, the river was flooded at the time to boot.

I think just going to a draw for nonresidents would increase the interest from traveling hunters. A very low quota would need to be set to make any on-the-ground difference. Then, the powers that be will see all the demand for these licenses, the big $$ they are willing to pay, and the ability to double, triple, whatever the NR quota to raise more funds. We could end up with more NRs, not fewer.

steiny I understand what you’re saying about out of pocket expenses , but unless a guy does something really dumb he will make money by owning land, not cost him. When my dad was young, most recreational type land was going for under $500/acre. Now, same area, it’s $5k or more. I’m in my 30’s, and just since I’ve been paying attention I’ve seen land prices more than double in my area.
