My wife made some cole slaw and put some jalapeno juice in it to spice it up a little. Add a dash of salt and I could eat that stuff by the tub full. absolutely delicious. Wanted me to put it on some bbq chicken, can't really do it unless I'm eating it sandwich style. And I don't feel so bad by eating a large amount of it since it's really not a mayo based slaw. Lots of veggies in it so I feel ok if I indulge myself on a 2nd or 3rd bowl. to all the naysayers out there, please don't burst this perfect place I'm in right now. Love the stuff. Nothing better than the right grub at the right time!

I quit blind calling outside of the rut a long time ago for a couple of reasons.
1.If a deer is already headed your way, or nearby, it's at least going to stop and listen, putting it on alert or potentially running out the clock in the evening.
2.If it's a buck it's almost certainly going to circle downwind, and most of the time you'll never even know it was there. A few times I have seen bucks do this. I got them interested in my calls and they immediately circled downwind. I did kill an eight point that did this, but barely, and only because he circled out in the open. He stopped right as he got downwind and that's when the arrow struck. Even 1/ 1/2 year olds will do this.
3. If it's a doe, and coming your way and hears horns, it's liable to turn around because it doesn't want to be chased.
For these reasons I play the wind and stay quiet most of the time, esp. during the early season.
HOWEVER:
During the rut I carry my calls and use them if nothing is happening. I have rattled up and killed 3 bucks over the years. I never go anywhere without that "can" call during the peak. I have had that call turn deer completely around, and two years ago I spooked a buck walking in. It was peak rut and I thought he wasn't sure what I was. I ducked behind a tree and snuck a few bleats. He actually circled back, trying to go downwind but couldn't because of a steep dropoff. I got my bow drawn but a screen of brush saved him. I wish it was a tad louder. If it's windy at all or the deer is far off forget it.
All calls are frequently ignored, ( and I believe often unheard ).
That's my 2 cents anyway.

Yes, that doe looks huge! The kind I shoot that always run downhill. I agree 100% on the camera. I've been very pleased with it overall, but I like to face the trail when I can. These deer seem to wander in from all directions. This spot turned out to be a complete surprise. Not able to make a decision back in november, I put the camera watching a very vague-looking trail, not expecting much. I ended up getting some nice deer, though most of them at 2:00 am and only ONE daylight pic.

I got some good trailcam footage in Dec/January, including the first turkeys I've seen in years. Only one video of them though. I'm pretty sure I captured a young bobcat. ( starting at 1:08. Not the first kitty ) I hear they are around but I've never seen em. Bobcat or not?

I think I watched the same report. It suffered from having less than credible interview subjects.
I personally went about a year between jobs recently, but my health eliminated most possibilities. I had a nasty abdominal hernia surgery on top of an already messed up back, so I didn't even consider most physical jobs. Fortunately I had built up a financial reserve, so I could do that.
It is hard to believe that in this environment that a healthy person hustling cannot find something. I have heard subtle variations of these two comments many times since last spring:
"We can't get anybody." " My factory/restaurant/whatever is hiring anyone that breathes."
Oh course, you have to be willing to work less than glamorous jobs sometimes. I suspect "I can't find a job," means "I can't find a job I want." Some are too good to flip burgers or clean bathrooms if they have to.
That said, anyone can hit a dry spell when they are looking. And health, where you live and your vehicle status could make the difference. And some are alone...no family support whatsoever. That would make things harder when everything hits at once. I haven't been jobless very long in my life but it's not a good feeling. Probably a year and six months total out of 25 plus years. Half of that time I was crippled up anyway!

Sounds like you are a hard worker, so enjoy some fruits of your labor.
Sometimes I think I should by a new vehicle. But then the old one starts. lol

I enjoy his work. A very rare political cartoonist that isn't a wild-eyed leftist.

I don't think they have a choice. The New York commies have made it clear that they are going to persecute them out of existence. Endless lawsuits and investigations, all politically motivated.

WTH? I avoid the politics forum for a while and all of the sudden it's the funny farm. Self deleted? Is he trying to scrub himself from the net or something? I knew it was aliens. I knew it all along. It was 2 people not 1... No, one "person" and one alien/human hybrid! C'mon man, get with the program!

Well, I said I hoped the big stimulus cluster wouldn't hold up tax season, and it seems my fears were not unfounded. Tax season will be delayed by two weeks. Tax delay

I was in the Madison Tractor supply and noticed they had a number of pro America/2nd Amendment T-shirts. I bought an NRA shirt.
Pleasantly surprised to see this in any store, even one that's "rural oriented."

I don't feel bad about "hoarding" ammo because I still do what I've done the vast majority of my life. Once I find a round I, and my gun, like I buy it by the case and spend time after each season looking for it on sale. That's not quite what I mean. Built up, over time, that's one thing. Nothing wrong with having a supply! It's the guy that buys every box of something hard to find that bugs me. One guy used to come in the store I worked at every morning for months during the Obama years and try to intercept all the 22's as they come off the truck. After a while I didn't put them out until he left.

Here we go again. If the mania ever subsides, I'm buying every box of ammo I see while it's quiet, put it in the garage, and then when everybody freaks again I'll open "The panic depot" and charge ten times MSRP. Its guys like you... lol Right! I just waited too long! I dislike the hoarding mindset. You just know the guy that buys all ten boxes of .22 in the middle of a shortage already has 20,000,000 rounds. I hope I get to see the mob cart off his ammo and toilet paper.

If far left activists were not involved one would wonder why not, as it seems an obvious thing to do.
I think they are deeply involved in online rumors and "stirring things up." Both trees in the political woods produce many nuts, and one needs only to shake the branches.
