The telecheck's in the south are where you call and it is all automated. don't really have to talk to a real person. Simple, easy, and convenient. 1-800-IGOTONE

It would indeed be much more economical and tempting to come back during ML season for a weekend or two if the one week gun season trip didn't provide a 120" or better buck. I know......my standards aren't that high.....might be different if I could hunt the entire season of each weapon but 420 miles one way is a long way. I've read on here that the end of the early bow season is prime time also. Took my bow in to get tuned up. Bundle license will probably temp me to come up for a long weekend 1st part of November this year also.

Thanks, Greghopper.
I just saw the individual prices and apparently the 1st doe is still same price as a buck. oh well, still save a little.

Hope they do implement the telecheck. Great thing in other states and I believe more checked in. No excuse for not checking in a deer. How many times have I went to a checking station up there and either closed or out of tags. Drove to another and same thing. What? ?? Crazy warm weather will cause a lot of deer to be processed without check in due to this. Now......just a phone call on the spot in the woods with the cell phone. oh yeah! OBR is ok with me. Doe is a lot better eating than a small or young basket rack buck anyway. I have a current permit from the local sheriff in my wallet that allows me to carry, purchase, sell, or transfer a handgun. From what I understand, that is all I need to carry my pistol hunting and in the vehicle. Correct me if I am wrong. Thanks

If I read this right, my non-resident firearm license (buck) will cost me $120.75 and each doe will be $10.00. One buck and two doe will be $140.75. Much better than the $324.00 I've been spending for the same. Resident license down also. Great thing in this terrible economy. I never could find a "bundle" price. I sure hope I've read this right. I've been blessed with free lodging and most food also for many years not to mention the fact that I get to hunt the great state of Indiana each year. I would pay more but glad I don't have to. Wish I had more than 6-7 days to hunt.....I'd be a trophy hunter. LOL

Case trapper in my pocket and a Buck 110 on my belt. Both are razor sharp. Case pocket knife is all i used to use. Don't have to sharpen as often with the two of them.

Indiana is a great state to hunt in. No doubt about it. Those that don't think so should try hunting in the other 40 states that are MUCH worse. Sure, GA and other states have more deer but it is a bigger state with much more wooded land. Also has many more hunters and close to a three month gun season. WMA's or National Forest land (public) are lucky to have a 10% success rate. Private land is the only way to go. Now....you have to lease land. 25 guys on 1200 acreas hunting for three months in a pine plantation that harvest a total of 15 deer and think they've done well. Biggest buck harvested this year is a 110" 8 pointer. Cost...about $600 per person not including gas, etc. They think they've done well. True story. I've been hunting in Indiana for a little over 15 years. See just as many deer as ever and the bucks do seem to be better quality. I hunt on 100 acreas with 4 locals with the three farms around me being 400, 100, and 100 acreas. Good bucks killed each year and lots of does. NO QDM going on at all. Not possible with small tracts and neighbors won't get together on a restriction type of hunt self imposed. Lots of things to take into consideration on producing B&C caliber bucks. Indiana is in the top 10 states now. Sounds good to me. Each year I hear of people that can't find much less shoot a deer close to where I'm hunting. What? Quit watching TV and hunting fields. Get in and around the thickets where deer live. All of us humans are conditioned to our own perspectives according to life experiences. Indiana is a great place to hunt with big body weights, great mass, and corn fed taste. YUM. 8 doe county where I hunt but I've never heard of anyone getting that many. Doesn't matter what the limit is if only a very very few are taking advantage of it. I thank GOD for the blessing of being able to hunt in Indiana each year and hope it continues.

Thanks for the replies. Did some looking and see that the 460 S&W is new for Indiana, I think, and just out performs the 454. The TC encore prohunter camo rifle with SS fluted barrel is about $800 bucks. Add a 3x9 Leupold and have one wonderful rifle to use. Probably have one in my hands next year.

Been reading up on the 454 Casull cartridge. Did a search on this site and saw no posts. This cartridge seems to have some serious horsepower for a factory load. Rifles are available chambered for this. Is there a reason no one uses or discusses it? Thanks

Shot three does a couple of years ago and gutted right there. All within 20 yards of my stand and then drug them out. Blood was everywhere. Killed a 10 pointer the next day and he just smelled of the piles and payed them no attention. Deer do not go to school and learn what a gut pile or blood is. LOL

Indiana a secret big buck state? LOL Illinois to the west, Ohio to the east, Kentucky to the south, and Michigan to the the north. Not much of a secret. Thankfully, just not lots of commercialization of the fact. Lots of hunters go by what they see on TV..... The states to hunt, hunting fields and wide open hardwoods instead of thickets and their edges, and every gadget imaginable.....and take it for gospel. Kinda like "professional" wrestling. When I first started hunting in Indiana 15 years ago, I didn't see posted signs and leased land. Easy to get a place to hunt. Now just the opposite. Can't stop progress, $$$$$, I don't reckon.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats and also on getting better/healing. Yeah, I should have said Encore pistol. Sorryabout that. The bottom pic you can see the pistol in the holster on my side. Been hunting there with that pistol for many years now. That 10 will make 6 on my wall from Indiana I harvested with that pistol. Got a lot of does and smaller bucks too (got to get the $300 for buck and 1st doe tag filled and also the freezer) Again, thanks for the compliments and best wishes.

Here's the mainframe 10 with a 2" kicker off the base I got this year in 2011 with the .308 Encore. I feel fortunate.

Hey all. Made it back from my yearly week hunt in Indiana. Got out of the truck on return and had severe pain. Went to the doctor and had an incarcerated hernia. Operated on the same day as my regular doctor saw me. Yikes. Had a great trip. Saw 13 deer. Harvested this mainframe 10 pointer with a 2" sticker on his base. Maybe 130"? Took three of us to load him on the 4 wheeler. Got him with my .308 Encore. He ran down, around me, and around the corner of the thicket. Waited 30 minutes. Walked up on him and he jumped up and ran maybe 15 yards and laid down. Shot him again in the middle. Shot through both lungs and heart on 1st shot. Unreal how they have the will to live. Had a great time. Hope you all like the pics as much as I did the hunting trip. Recouperating at home now. Season opened here Monday before Thanksgiving. Haven't been able to go. Oh well. My son said he'd carry my climber to the tree so I could hunt Saturday if I think I can climb with it (I'll be there) <br> <br>
