Hey all. Made it back from my yearly week hunt in Indiana. Got out of the truck on return and had severe pain. Went to the doctor and had an incarcerated hernia. Operated on the same day as my regular doctor saw me. Yikes. Had a great trip. Saw 13 deer. Harvested this mainframe 10 pointer with a 2" sticker on his base. Maybe 130"? Took three of us to load him on the 4 wheeler. Got him with my .308 Encore. He ran down, around me, and around the corner of the thicket. Waited 30 minutes. Walked up on him and he jumped up and ran maybe 15 yards and laid down. Shot him again in the middle. Shot through both lungs and heart on 1st shot. Unreal how they have the will to live. Had a great time. Hope you all like the pics as much as I did the hunting trip. Recouperating at home now. Season opened here Monday before Thanksgiving. Haven't been able to go. Oh well. My son said he'd carry my climber to the tree so I could hunt Saturday if I think I can climb with it (I'll be there)

Same question as ccdeer...how do you get by with using a .308 for deer hunting in Indiana? Where have you guys been?? The .308 in a pistol has been legal for quite awhile now. Took my first buck with mine this year...TC Encore in .308. Do a search for .308 in this site and you'll come up with all kinds of info-probably more than you want. Just don't bring your .308 RIFLE out deerhunting or you'll have some xplain'n to do!!!

Thanks dadfsr for the clarification (blush, blush) When I read .308 Encore, my mind jumped to the conclusion that it was a rifle... didn't even consider the possibility of it being a pistol. My apologies to ncmountainman and a hearty congrats on a dandy buck with a pistol.

Thanks to everyone for the congrats and also on getting better/healing. Yeah, I should have said Encore pistol. Sorryabout that. The bottom pic you can see the pistol in the holster on my side. Been hunting there with that pistol for many years now. That 10 will make 6 on my wall from Indiana I harvested with that pistol. Got a lot of does and smaller bucks too (got to get the $300 for buck and 1st doe tag filled and also the freezer) Again, thanks for the compliments and best wishes.
