Got the truck loaded down. 3 coolers, my huge luggage duffel, and climber in the bed. Gun case with my 870. Encore in the holster, and back pack behind the seat. Got three 1/2 gallons of Muscadine Cider in one of the coolers as gifts for my friends up there. Taking a friend with me this year. Be alot different for him than that leased pine plantation club in GA. He will freak! hehehehe Leaving out late late tonight or early morning. Be hanging stands tomorrow. Stay about a week. I'm pretty excited. Oh Yeah! Best of luck to all of you!!!! Check in when I get back.

Thanks. Appreciate it. All are Hoosier bucks except for the 2nd from the left on the rock fireplace. I harvested it here in the mountains in 2000 with a .270 rifle. Field dressed 137#. Huge deer for here. The other 5 are Hoosier bucks all harvested with my Encore .308 after that local deer.

Thank you, whitetail1 I live in the mountains in the far southwestern corner of NC. 2 hours from anywhere. LOL 2 hrs south of Asheville NC, 2 hours east of Chattanooga TN, 2 hours north of Atlanta GA, and two hours west of Greenville SC. Very rural. The county is 60% Nantahala National Forest.

I use 165 gr core lokt or partition bullets. Shot the pistol twice yesterday at 60 yards. Dead Center and one inch high. A nickel would cover the two holes. I am ready for Saturday. Leaving out Thursday night and be in Indiana Friday to hang my stand. ;D Staying at my landowner friends house for a week. Should be good. Come on cold weather and big bucks chasing.

Hello Everyone. I have been hunting in Clark Co. IN for about 15 years and LOVE it!! Very few deer where I live and no crops. No does are allowed to be harvested except by bow. Very mountainous and huge forests. Hard to pattern deer. We do have good trout and bass fishing and also bear hunting. The people of southern IN are some of the best I have ever met. The couple of locals I hunt with in IN are always nice, helpful, and I consider them longtime real friends. I always try to get at least two or three does and a buck during my 1 week stay opening week of gun season. I tree stand hunt with a .308 Encore. Also have a slug gun and a MZ but love the pistol. Indiana is truly a magical deer hunting place and I am blessed to hunt there with a wonderful landowner and friends. Great site here!

I hunt in Clarke Co. Use a portable API shooting star climber. Usually 20-25 ft. I always hunt the thickets and not the fields. Corners, intersections, funnels, etc. Yeah, I noticed that the site has me as female......wrong. LOL How do I get that changed? Thanks for the welcome.

Hey guys. Been lurking for a couple years but now joined up. I have been traveling to Indiana for about 15 years now. Hunt on private land of a farmer friend I met at church there while visiting one year. I have hunted with a .308 Encore for the last 6 years. 4x Leupold pistol scope. Had to make myself take only the pistol so I would use it only. Very comfortable with it now. Always wait for that double lung/heart shot. Taken 20+ deer with it. Yeah, I have to get a few does to make up for that 1st $150 doe tag and help out on the QDM Taken three 8's in the 130's and a 10 in the 140's with the pistol. I had a .243 for a few years but those big Indiana deer seemed to run some with that and also sometimes didn't have an exit hole. Not good. The .308 always has an exit hole. Recoil is not bad but does come straight back vs up like a .44 mag. Glad to see others also like to use pistol. Wait for that perfect broadside kill shot with one bullet....should with any gun. Glad to be here! Super glad to be THERE on 11/12/11
