I rarely post because of all the key board hunters on this forum. Anything said by someone with not many posts is just scrutinized! I think it's a joke! If the man haversted this deer by fair chase, let him try to captilize on it. I can guarantee those who are putting negative comments on here are the ones that are either jealous or hypocritical! They are probably the same ones that still watch NFL football after saying last year they were done because of players kneeling during the National Athem! Get over yourself and move on and harvest a bigger buck and never tell anyone about it! Bet that won't happen!

Kinda of reminds me of the media today! Not sure if it's true but everyone that comments has first hand knowledge of it but no smoking gun! But if it is true kiddos to who harvested the deer but watch out for the tail riders who knew all about it before anyone else! Amazing what people will do to try to squeeze into someone's else's victory even though they don't belong!

This thread went on for a long time without being closed. I'm suprised! A lot of accusations were thrown about without any evidence that backed up the claim. I'll just have to sit down and scratch my head on this one.

It was very wind with gust up to 30 mph. Didn't see anything. Took down my two hang-on stands and back at home and finished for the season. Had a good year with a doe and buck. In 2017 I'm going to hunt my yard more often. Planning on a small 1/2 food plot and put up a cedar rub and scrape. I cut two good Osage Orange tree branches for my yard mock scrape. 1st I need to get my sons junk out of there this spring and move 5 truck loads of top soil. I'm building another wall that will be 110 ft by 6" with both ends around 1 ft. Hope to start when it drys out this spring. Osage orange? Suprised you didn't start a fire? That is some strong wood. I have about 5 cords of it in the backyard. Its one of the strongest woods in Indiana. I love to burn it in the wood stove, once I get a fire going.

Htpothetical! What if the treestand on public ground has no name, address, phone number or identification number anywhere on the stand? Whose property is it? Is it a community stand? Not that I would hunt it but I see tons of stands on public property with no identification. Be hard pressed to be considered conversion if someone else hunted in it. Furthermore I'm not sure I would hunt anyone else's treestand on public ground. Most I see have bow hooks screwed into the tree, which isn't allowed, let alone the trees cut down surrounding the stand to clear for shooting lanes. How would you explain that to a C.O. if you were hunting in someone else's treestand?? Just my thoughts.

I saw the new gun range at Willow Slough. $7 per hour to shoot. The range is run by a gun shop that operates out of Illinois. They won the bid through the State of Indiana to manage and control the range at Willow Slough. Hopefully this isn't a slippery slope for public ground that is owned by the residents that reside in Indiana? Just a thought!

Why would you post a grammer mistake? Does it make you feel better about yourself by trying to make others feel less educated then yourself? This is a forum about hunting, not a lesson in English. If it would make you feel better I can follow your posts around and make sure everything grammatically correct? Because words mean things. Matter to who? You? Everyone else seemed to get the gist of the posting! Last time I knew it wasn't required to have a thesis turned in to comment on something! Get a life. Also get over your complexity issues that makes you feel as though you have to point out everyone's grammer short comings. Out of curiosity, because I don't know you, do you really hunt at all or just like to pick on people that aren't up to your level of educational enhancement?

I realize the DNR is.part.of the state? Thanks for the obvious. The fact of the matter is the point I am trying to make is that the State has been trying to privitize most anything that is state run i.e. public ground. If complete control goes to the state in making decisions on hunting related issues on state ground or private ground, they do not need input from the DNR. We have legislators making decisions and not people that actually know what they are talking about. I leave it at that. What happens, happens. Hopefully there aren't any more comments to clarify about how smart of a comment can be posted to make the poster seem to know he has an extensive superior knowledge on this matter?

Wondering what will happen with the new administration? Not really new ,I know. If heard (rumor), the Constitutional question on right to hunt and fish was a trick question? The State will supposedly have all the power, making the DNR powerless? Supposedly the state is looking into privatizing all the public ground and trying to make money on it?

I agree. There seems to be a lot more people that have gotten into hunting in the last 20 years that are really rude. Maybe it's a generation thing? I hunt public ground and when I am driving there from my house the speed limit for 3/4 of the way is 35-45. I am constantly getting tailgated and passed with there brights on while I am doing 50. Funny thing is I usually run into the same people at the check station and calmly ask them "Are the deer moving earlier this morning before dark?" They usually don't say anything back. I just think people are just more openly rude today. I also think many people haven't been checked by someone because of there behavior and this causes them to continue and believe in there sense of entitlement behavior. Just my 2 cents.

I haven't posted in a quite awhile! I was told by Woody to tone it down. I did! But for quite awhile subjects seem to be one sided, and if those that are in the "in crowd", don't agree, a big scrutiny is brought down. I'm not trying to stir the pot Woody, but all I'm saying is everyone should have a say in what they want to say without someone getting hurt feelings and people running to there protection.

Was wondering if anyone had pictures or story behind 22 point buck taken near Roselawn? My buddy saw that deer twice in the evening the week before the opening of gun.

I also hunt in Laporte county, north of Ind. Toll road and havent seen the deer or sign we have consistantly seen year after year. Talk is in Laporte county EHD will have taken out 40% of the herd. I also don't think it is just in and around Lake and Laporte! I live in Roselawn and just down the block from me a buck had to be shot by a C.O.. The buck was wondering around in circles and bumping into things (as though it could not see). After the buck was shot the C.O. stated the buck had all the signs of E.H.D. (puffey eyes, skinney, screwed up hooves) and was almost positive he had E.H.D. pending an official biologist report. I wouldnt be suprised if E.H.D. will be attributed to the low volumes of the harvest for 2010 in most counties. I believe the state knew about it before hand but did not want to tell for the fear of freaking people out and screwing up license sales. We will just have to wait and see? I can't see the state changing any Deer season as the way it is now! I think the state knows what a toll this E.H.D. will do to all of Indiana.

All I can say is you can blame this all on the television. Nowadays everyone thinks they can hunt because they watch the Outdoor Channel! Look at all the carp people (wanna be hunters) buy. Advertising really worked here. Companies have made a ton of money off of people who are searching for something in life. Hunting is one of there gotta try it, maybe I'll fit in but in the mean time they are ruining a lot of real hunters hunts!
