Bahaha! That "certain group" would definitely s&!t themselves!
But seriously how could that happen in such a well managed state and by such a noted whitetail show(Bill Winke has been trophy hunting, managing, researching, writing and teaching folks about deer LONG before the TV/sponsor fad.) Why would such a noted personality allow this type of behavior?
Next thing you know, that "certain group" will be trying to form a committee to abolish 6 deer a day limits across the Midwest.
Iowa is generally the gold standard for deer management.

The most I ever had in one truck was 5(2 for me 3 for grandfather). Never thought to take a pic but we got lots of honks and thumbs up on way home. Had 4 wheeler and 2 climbing stands in truck also. We had deer legs sticking out every where! LOL.
Was opening morning of Muzzleloader season 2010. Great memory.

I wish I could find the picture my dad had of opening day of doe season years ago in Pennsylvania. Back then you could use party tags. Majority of doe hunting was done by clubs driving deer. You were allowed a limit of 25 guys. They filled the back of an old panel truck with 25 doe before noon. Of course back then it was nothing to see a herd of 18-20 doe come by at once. You wanna talk about noise hearing them coming at you pushed in the drive. They weren't running like deer you see in indiana that are pushed. They had their ears layed back and bellies touching the ground. By then they had been shot at up and down the mountain. May not be true "hunting" in some eyes, but it was something to see. By the time they came off the mountain and hit my grandpa's field they were full tilt and you were leading them 6-7 deer length and still shooting behind. Crazy enough, all hpr, and don't recall anyone ever getting shot. Hmmmm?

While I'm not a huge fan of some of the big name outdoor personalities these days I love Midwest whitetail and Bill winke. I feel he is one of the most knowledgeable and informative guys out there. If he thinks his farm needs those kind of numbers harvested to keep the does in check its a safe bet to say it's a good idea

I was watching an episode of Lee and Tiffany and Lee said on the one farm they needed to take up to 100 doe off it and on all his farms they average something like 400 doe they have to kill each year. They keep the food banks well stocked.

He is pretty sharp on them although I disagree with his moon thing on the rut.

Btw - Woodmaster and his crew tries to take at least a dozen does off their lease every year... Between IJ and a few others that hunt our property (some of which I wasn't privy to) we took 15 off our 300 acres a few years ago, too many to me. So I've tried to stay on top of who all is hunting our property now.

Like or hate them,( Winke, Kisky's and Lakosky's) definitely know their land and what it takes to grow them and manage. It just amazed me when they were talking about taking that many doe off one property. You'd almost get sick just killing them constantly. After the rut they just hammer them.

I killed 4 out of the same tree one evening 20+ years ago. If the tree was still there today you could easily do it now on any given day of firearms season.
Bordering a conservation club that didn't allow hunting and 240 acres that didn't allow any (ZERO) does to be shot had its advantages.

And I'm not condemning anyone People lease and pay good money to kill deer And that kind of Action will determine what you are seeing

At that point hunting becomes a cull. Culls are not all that much fun...

Back in 1987 we changed a name of a stand to the "Widow Maker". We took 7 bucks in one gun season from that stand. I took #7 a 10 pointer on the last day. That spot has been a good spot from day one.

Let's clear this right now. I'm not an unethical hunter and every deer I kill gets eaten.
